If you have a look at www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk it seems like you can get a chip to modify it, but know handset hack.

I have the dansai player and the region 1 dvds i have tried using a little handset sequence have played no problem admittedly only tried 3 but they seem to play no problem at all there does seem to be a problem playing the rce disks i must stress this isnt my own hack i got it off the dvdreviewer site
