yeah, i'm downloading it now too! i posted the following on the other thread (although i guess it makes more sense to start a new one now):
okay guys, this time it really is up!!! :)
Called Mystery .... downloading now!!!
The download page is laid out identically to the 'Breathing' one, except this time the colour-scheme has a warm, red feel and the big graphic is a detailed picture of yoda. looks even better than in the first trailer - very much more like he does in Empire.
.... 2/3 of the way through! "almost there ..... almost there!" :D
My progress bar hasn't moved after 10 mins...boo hoo hoo.
I have broadband too!
:(
if you go newgroups to alt.binaries.starwars
you can download a sweet mpg version of the
new trailer which you can burn on a vcd and watch on
ya dvd player !!

i lost my broadband connection too!
i raced to about 80% within 15 minutes and then nothing .... so i sacked it off after another 10 minutes and started again.
.... now i can't even get on! :(
after several more tries i'm still getting "page cannot be displayed", so maybe the server has actually gone down? that would explain the complete halt rather that a severe slowdown.
you'd think they'd be prepared for this though - and due to needing the dvd to view it i would have expected less of a demand on the server than on monday (regardless of how many they've sold).

that's why i didn't watch any, even at 80% finished, incase something like this happened. i've finally got past the "page cannot..." screen, but still waiting for interactual to access the site. :(
i can't quite work this out (unless there has been a major technical gaff somewhere). on monday it was congested and incredibly slow but it was working. today it has ground to a complete halt almost instantly, yet there should be less demand on the server as less people will be accessing it due to the dvd 'restriction'.
i've been speaking to loads of people who were downloading when i was (on various connections) and all of them had their downloads halt at the same time as me and can't get back on.

OK, I may be being thick, but how can I access the newsgroup using Outlook Express?
Outlook is crap for binaries - use a program like FreeAgent (www.forteinc.com)....
but unless MrHahn has better newsgroup access than me I'm afraid its not worth the hassle....the only version of the trailer on the newsgroup was a crappy bootleg of the breathe trailer...waste of time.

kazaa has a low quality (8 meg- 2 minutes) version that can be grabbed pretty quick at the moment
A touch underwelming at that size - I just got the 12 meg breathing trailer and was much more impressive than the one I got on Monday
I'd forgotten just how much I love trailers :)
Phil
the fake one on the newsgroup is 8.95mb, so the one on Kazaa is probably the same, buy maybe not.

still can't get it from the site (now getting HTTP 500 internal server errors), but i have spoken to one person who managed to download it .... with a 56k modem!
he was watching it for the 6th time when it crashed his pc .... now he can't get back in either!
nor could he save it to his hard disk, or find any traces of it in any temporary files - internet or otherwise. so i reckon all this talk of a 'bootleg' copy on various peer-to-peer networks is *********. i'm not calling anyone a liar, i just reckon there's some confusion - as Kanedaa seems to be proving is the case. 8.95MB was the filesize of the 'bootleg' trailer i posted on monday. anyway, when the first 'it's on newsgroups' post appeared there simply hadn't been enough time to retrieve it (somehow) and convert it.
guess we'll all have to be patient .... :(

I grabbed a few copies of it off Kazaa
the sizes are different but they are all the same trailer
Just to confirm with anyone who has seen the real thing to make sure I'm not a foolish fellow :)
it features the star wars music and starts with a desert view with a ship - then 3 bits of text "every general ..", "every queen ..." and "every boy ..."
if anyone's got any ftp space I could bung it up
Phil
EDIT : oops I was foolish

I'm d/l the large one but I've only got a 56k modem. If anyone gets it quicker please let us know what it's like.

Hey, everyone's jumped ship, i didn't notice this thread. I gues i deserve it it was a cheap trick i pulled. Anyway came back on about 21:15 and found that it was up so i'm dl now. It's done now.
Ben did you say once it's finished you can right click and save it?. I just tried and it won't let me save:mad:
Gotta say the clip is excellent, very darker i tone, great stufff. Even what looks like a Gladiator rip off at the end. Anyway i'm sure you'll all see it soon so i won't spoil it.
Just gotta figure out how to save the buggar.

yeah, they've changed it from last time unfortunately. but you can't really blame them i suppose.

indeed! i managed to get it at last .... nothing like what i was expecting, just .... looks fantastic!!! :) amazing how the effects (yes, naysayers, i know they alone do not a good film make) already make those in episode I look dated.
Even what looks like a Gladiator rip off at the end.
nah, i know very little about that scene (a tiny bit from before quitting spoilers back in september 2000) but i wouldn't call it that - though i see what you mean. anyway, that scene was written before gladiator was released.

i've found the file it is using. but before you get too excited .... i can't get it to work with anything.
after watching the trailer .... hmm, no, .... thinking about it now i agree with the official site, it really is more of a preview, edited similarly to a trailer, than an out-and-out trailer (just doesn't quite feel like a 'trailer', imo) .... a 12.8MB .txt file appeared on my harddisk (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files) with the following name:
zE56k0sh56ugvb7s[1].txt from a URL at apple.com
but it won't play. i've tried renaming it and everything. there must be something embedded in the website that tells quicktime how to decode the file.
Oh well, looks like i'm going to have to let it go and dl it again when my friend comes round. Your right they probably want to keep a tighter grip of it as poss at the mo.
As for Gladiator i shouldn't have said rip-off, just the scene looked similar in comparison ie the collosseum (SP?) and the light brown cinamatoghraphy. Badly worded on my part.
Agreed this has made me excited all over again. Roll on May. Was that a godd birthday pressie or what then Ben???
BTW theforce.net have a description of the third trailer that's due. Sound even better with a stronger emphasis on the love story between Anakin and Padme.
As for now i think i have had enough Star Wars for today:rolleyes: it was worth it though.:D

no, that's fair enough. i can see why you said it - a perfectly fair comparison really. i think i was just reacting to the thought that the TPM-haters might latch onto that same point themselves.

it was indeed a superb birthday present! :) i may have missed out on the beers due to illness but at least that went some way to making up for it.
theforce.net have a description of the third trailer that's due.
i'm giving that description a miss. i think i can just hang on until a week monday. don't want to overdose. and though this preview was cool, i'm a mite concerned they may be showing us too much too soon.

I'm not sure if it's the same procedure with the official site but i dl that trailer from Dark Horizons (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news.htm) they also have the new one on there. To find 'breathing' you just have to go back a few days via the links at the bottom of the page. When you find it just right click>save as to your hard drive.
As i said i got the first one from there but i haven't been able to save the new one yet:(
WOOOAAAHHHHHH!!!
It looks brilliant!
Much much darker than TPM and you can already feel Anakin becoming an arrogant little *******. No wonder he was easily seduced by the Dark side!
One question: I thought Padme was the name of the handmaiden and that the Queen's name was Amedala.
Why does Anakin call her Padme still??

Just found this over at the TalkBack part on aintitcool.com:
With some manipulation, I was able to download the trailer file on the laptop, transfer it to my better desktop system, and play it. Here's how... First, you need to get a copy of the file. (Sorry to all you non-DVD owners, or Mac-users, this means you won't be able to play along until someone places the file out in the open). For those of you with DVD players, use the InterActual player to view the trailer. This will create a copy of the .mov file in your Temporary Internet Files directory. The easiest way to find it is to use Explorer, Find Files, and look for all files under the Temporary Internet Files directory (that's under the Windows directory for some users, and the Local Settings folder under your profile in Documents and Settings for others...but really, if you don't know that, you should wait for someone else to do this for you). A note of caution: the trailer file is NOT saved as a .mov. Instead, it's probably a file such as zE56k0sh56ugvb7s. Just look for a recently accessed file roughly 13,454,475 bytes in length. Copy it to a better location (and with a better name). Now, if you attempt to play this file right now, you'll get an error. Why? Well, there are some tricks being done. The actual .mov file being loaded is mystery_480.mov from the http://dvd.starwars.com/epii_preview/mystery/img/ directory. However, that simply redirects (after DVD verification) to a stub which redirects to the above 13MB file. You can get the mystery_480.mov file by creating a html file with the following line: <A HREF="http://dvd.starwars.com/epii_preview/mystery/img/mystery_480.mov">Here</A> Open that file up in the InterActual browser, right click, and Save to File. However, that will only save the 8K stub. What's actually needed is to edit the original 13MB file. Open it up in a hex editor (what's that? If you need to ask, you'll probably want to wait for someone else). You'll notice the first 76 bytes are literally "x"ed out. You can replace those bytes with the first 76 bytes from the mystery_480.mov file, or with something like this: 00 00 22 C5 6D 6F 6F 76 00 00 22 BD 63 6D 6F 76 00 00 00 0C 64 63 6F 6D 7A 6C 69 62 00 00 22 A9 63 6D 76 64 00 00 Save the file, and open with Quicktime. The video and sound tracks are disabled, so you'll need to go into the Edit Menu, choose Enable Tracks, and turn both on. You can now play the file to your hearts content, or save and transfer to your non-DVD machine. Enjoy.
Haven't tried it yet, may be of use though?

Four mirrors of the hi-res version!
Nice. Enjoy.
I spent ages waiting for the trailer yesterday via the dvd only website. When it finally arrived i d/loaded it but couldn't save it. So i go on Dark Horizons today and they have posted a link to a site that has loads of mirrors of it. I have just finished dl the large file.
So those out there dissapointed they can't see it coz they lack the disc or dvd drive head on over to Dark Horizons where they have it up.
Clearly Lucas is talking out of his beard again.

EDIT Yeah forget mine aswell, Dark Horizons just links you straight to that page.

Alternatively you could just go onto Morpheus and do a search for “episode 2 mystery”.
That’s where I got it from. Looks great by the way!!!
As everyone is saying, the tone looks alot darker with some good moments of humour - Anakin -"we decided to come and rescue you" ...Obiwan - "Good job"

The Interact browser/player doesn't agree with my PC. It gets 2/3 of the way through playing the trailer and then spectacularly crashes the PC. I guess there must be something incompatible with the quicktime plugin.
Luckily the other links work fine and quicktime plays the movie fine in stand alone mode.
Ben Martin
10-11-2001, 20:03
for you guys having problems with interactual/quicktime try turning off the 'save movies in cache' option in quicktime (i.e. in the 'regular' player - not in the browser).
a friend of mine was having the same problem last night, but when he made this one change it all started working okay. i think it is because the code on the site that launches the quicktime plug-in sets kiosk-mode to 'TRUE' (and thus disables saving), and thus clashes with your global setting of 'FALSE' (saving on) on your quicktime installation.
give it a try and let us know if it works.

Yup. After much @@@@@@@@ing around with my DVD and InterActual last night I got fed up and did a search on Morpheus. Downloaded all three trailers in high res with no probs. So long as you search for the individual titles they're easy enough to find.
PS:- Has anyone ever done a search on Morpheus which DOESN'T throw up at least half a dozen porn hits too?

I got all three trailers (Choices, Breathing, Mystery) in hi-res from http://www.movie-list.com/s/starwars2.shtml
Some people may wanna offer their webpage as a mirror. ;)
There's a link to an MPEG version of the trailer over at Movie-Link (http://www.movie-list.com/s/starwars2.shtml) for those who have trouble with Quicktime
OK so let me be the first to ask when the 3rd one is due for release?.
Is it the one that is in front of Harry Potter or was that the 'Mystery' one. I'm confused already:(

you're not confused, just forgetful! i posted a detailed answer to your above question on another thread earlier this week, but i can't find it so to recap from the official site:
More Episode II Video in November
November 05, 2001
The debut of the Episode II Teaser "Breathing" with Monsters Inc. this past weekend in theaters (and now in high quality QuickTime online here at starwars.com (http://www.starwars.com/)) is just the beginning of the all-new Star Wars action coming your way in November.
November 9 - Internet Preview at dvd.starwars.com
"The best DVD produced to date" (dvdtalk.com (http://www.dvdtalk.com/)) just got better. Beginning on November 9, 2001, the Star Wars Episode I DVD will be your key to unlock an exclusive Episode II Internet Preview. Completely different than the teaser currently running in theaters, the DVD-ROM exclusive Internet Preview features all-new footage from Attack of the Clones.
This anticipated preview requires a PC DVD-ROM drive, internet access and the Episode I DVD. If you don't have your copy yet, buy one today.
November 16 - Full Teaser Trailer
The full teaser trailer for Episode II is coming - an all-new trailer will play in front of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone starting November 16 in North America and other territories. Picking up where "Breathing" left off, this new trailer is over two minutes in length and features never-before-seen footage and dialogue.
so there you have it. the third trailer (known as the "Romance" trailer) will start playing with Harry Potter in the US this friday. i reckon it's a pretty safe bet that the trailer will appear on the official site on the following monday.
.... but we'll probably have it first! :D
Paul Bennison
11-11-2001, 14:49
Breathing - Is the 30s Teaser
Mystery - Is the one that is unlocked by one person owning the DVD and posting it around the world.
Romance - Is with Harry Potter.
So what's this 'Choices' one all about - and where can I get it??
Your right Ben, i'm just forgetful. So it looks like i have another day to look forward to sitting on my arse doing nothing but press the refresh button all day.;)
Paul - The choices video is just something that is on the official Star Wars website which consists of a few pictures edited together wth some captions. Nothing too impressive but worth a look if you interested.

when referring to "the official site", robby of course meant to say that Choices is only available on dvd.starwars.com! :)

I downloaded the 13 meg MPG version (razorsharp 'transfer' from quicktime) and must say that the film does look a lot darker. Blade Runner meets Star Wars? As for some of the scenes, i think the blue/greenscreen matting in the flying speeder sequence looks cheesy (reminds me of the godawful Judge Dredd) and the Jango Fett at the start STILL looks fake.
Then again i'm a tough b*st*rd to please. I thought the SFX in Lost In Space and The Mummy were very poor...
