Just wanted to let you guys know that this movie has been released in Germany by BMG.
It features an excellent anamorphic Wiescreen transfer, English and German soundtrack in DD 5.1, English and german subs, Trailers and B-roll footage.
It's available from www.amazon.de for the bargain price of DM 29.90 (approx. 9.50 quid)

Well as your attorney I advise everyone to go out and get a copy at that price. how else would your dvd collection be complete?

I've got the R1 which has a good Anamorphic picture, but only Dolby Surround - while the Italian and Japanese releases have DTS 5.1 soundtracks in their respective languages :(

Sadly, the R2 also doesn't have the deleted scenes from the R1. But those without multi-region capability will have no other choice than purchasing the German disc.
After all, this IS bat country....

To anyone who hasn't seen this film I say, "Don't believe the hype !" It's one of the worst films I've ever seen in my life. Do not, repeat, do not waste your money on Gilliam and Depp's worst ever film.

"We've gotta get out of here. I have The Fear"

Gotta be one of the most quoteable films ever! up there with Lebowski. Yeah the story is a mess, took a couple of viewing to get what was goin on, but its funny as hell.

Why go for the German over the US disc - just for the DD 5.1?

The US disc is great, only DD 2.0, but fabulous picture, deleted scenes and a nice little 'Spotlight on Location'.

Truly one of the best films of recent years and certainly one of the funniest. Depp is great, Del Toro is even better. Far superior to the over-hyped, over-disced Brazil.

As your attorney, etc...

'the dope fiend can be identified from his semen encrusted pants, caused by jacking off when he cant find a rape victim'

That's right, and your children shouldn't have been having sex in the first place!

Get R1 instead though if you can.

Narrator: We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like:

Raoul Duke: I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.

Narrator: Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:

Raoul Duke: Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?!

Acosta: Did you say something?

Raoul Duke: Hm? Nevermind. It's your turn to drive.

Narrator: No point in mentioning these bats, I thought. Poor ******* will see them soon enough.
