View Full Version : Which DVD player ?
Time to upgrade from LG DVD player.
I'm £200 approx to spend and looking for ideas.
Thanks :)

Pioneer 575-A for 120GBP from Richer Sounds ready Mulit-Region. This is the player I am about to tbuy despite having a larger budget, I just don't see the point of going more expensive (apart from for the Burr-Brown DAC's in the high-end players)
Agreed. Pioneer 575-A all the way - for the money you just cannot fault it.
Thanks will look at 575. :)

Really? Multiple's or just a single? If it has then imo at the moment there is no need to buy any other player in that price bracket

Just the one but it still makes the Pioneer one of the better DVD players for CD replay.
Champion.

Great player, but shame about the abysmal build quality.

What's bad about it? I had a Pioneer 717 and it was built like a tank

The disc tray feels like it's going to break....it's very, very lightweight. As you'd expect with a player costing that little that does that much, but not even close to your old 717.
I was disappointed enough to sell it on.
I agree the disc tray is flimsy but for the price it is no bother at all. Unless you're planning on carting the player around all over the place there is not much danger of you breaking it.
Depends how heavy handed you want to be with it.

With a 15-month old opening it on occasion there's no chance of it surviving.
She can practically swing off the tray of my Denon 2900 now and it just smiles at her.
:D I can see your point then.

Just watch though, I was known to feed the expensive VHS player marmalade as a 3 year old.
Kids can get up to mighty mischief.
Keep a day watch, it's the only way to be safe.
