Hi all.

Received a copy of the Friends Season 7 boxset from France today and can confirm it does indeed contain the entire season on 3 double sided discs, Enlish Audio, English Menus etc and a very nice package all round for the bargain price of £36 (using a 50ff voucher)....so about £40 normally.

Just posting this as there were some doubters on the Bargain thread that was running a while back.

Oh yeah, only opened one of the discs (its a present for my mum) but they're the normal episodes (not Directors Cut versions).

Kanedaa

Can you post a link to where you got them from?. I've been holding off on those rip offs that were released over here. Sounds a nice set.

I just checked and www.mtv.fr are still offering a 50ff Amazon.fr voucher when you sign up for their newsletter (click through to the main site as mtv.fr takes you to a selection screen at the moment where you can choose to go to their music awards site)...its a little box in the top right of the page, you'll have to fill in a bunch of info and it takes a few days i think to get the voucher.

Got mine this morning too. One of the snapper spindles was shattered (goodness only knows how given it was the middle disc in the set!), and it will take some work to make this both anglicised and Amaray compatible. Thank heaven for the French edition. Cheaper than either UK or Australia due to not putting up with the crappy, overpriced directors cut editions.

The only grumble I would have is the packaging as when it's put on the rack the spine isn't white like the other 6 series :( still at £35 I'm still happy and  to whoever originally spotted it. I was really suprised the menus are in English even though the actual packaging is in French.

Anyone spotted the R2 (UK) covers online anywhere? Would make a good starting point to design some Amaray friendly covers.

Sorry for being a bit thick, but you couldn't explain what all the obligatory fields actually mean could you? I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to be typing in half of them.

Cheers

Babelfish Translator (http://babel.altavista.com/)

I'll wait for Australian 6 volumes so that they would match my other six seasons from there and have the extended cut episodes.

The extended cuts are a complete waste of time and if you think about it, the more people that purchase these pointless versions the less incentive Warners have to return to a saner way of packaging the next season in the UK.

Plus the Australian versions on this occasion will cost you near enough twice as much as the French boxset. Easy decision for me. :D

yep - I've been slowly getting Friends a season at a time from Oz, but will not hesitate to get these French releases, even if they are snappers rather than amarays, and in French (!), but sod Warners and their rip-off strategies......

With regards to the packaging I'd say that unless you REALLY want the Armaray look then the French packaging is just fine as the use of French language is kept to absolute bare minimum on the front and sides of the cases, its just the rear covers that are full on french...

Also I think this release bodes well for future seasons (which I believe Warner have already said will continue the Dir. Cut idea of Season 7 over here) in France maintaining the low pricepoint for the following reason (well, its my theory anyway)....

The Directors Cut episodes contain extra dialogue which for the UK release is no problem as its in English, whereas in France the episodes are obviously dubbed by Waner into French for the standard TV Episodes...so when a DVD release comes round they would have to pay the dubbing artists extra to dub the Dir.Cut episodes and the extra cost is probably just not worth it.

If you are waiting for the R4 to 'match' when you're looking at them on the shelf you're going to be disapointed. After 18 discs with matching spines, season 7 looks completely different.

Then there's the whole 6 instead of 3 ripoff......
