View Full Version : USB2 Problem...
According to the box of my Mobo it has some USB2 ports, its a K7S8X if that means anything! I have a USb2 external HD, but everytime I plug it into any of the ports it says high speed drive plugged into non high speed socket. I know there is definetly USB2 ports as when I run the chipset software(sandra) it says theres USB2 ports.
Any ideas how I can windows to know they aer USB2??
Hmm, I thought installing SP2 would sort it, but WIndows still says I have no USB2 port son my PC. The mobo is a SIS K7S8X and it clearly states on the box that it has USB2 ports :(
I tried to install the drivers from the Mobo CD but it just tells me that SP1 is installed adn te USB2 ports should work automatically:(
Any Idea??
Have you checked in the BIOS to see if there is an option to enable HiSpeed USB? Not sure if that'd fix it, but it might help?
Yeah - it'll be a BIOS setting. I'm having USB2 problems as well - as soon as I enable it all of my USB ports die!
On my mobo (Asus P4C800 Deluxe) I've disabled all bar the USB ports (no idea if they work as USB2 yet), seeing as the onboard firewire doesn't work. It seems PCI cards are still the way to go for some manufacturers. But I know my mobo is kind of tempramental anyways.
Ive checked the Bios the other day and it says it is high speed enabled. Il check again!
heres what I get in my device manager

Ok, the NEC I presume is the PCI card I have and some of the USB hubs are the front USB hub which is hooked upto the PCI card-sandra says one of them is usb2. So that leaves the SIS ones whic hare meant to be USB2 according to SANDRA:

ah well, ive given up, ive taken out the external drive and put the IDE HD inside my PC, and changed my IPod to Firewire.

have you tried removing the ports in device management?
Then they'll reinstall..
Also, are all of the ports usb2.0 or only some? try different ports!
