I don't know if it's worth making a central thread for AV related DIY stuff, but I've got a couple of questions anyway and thought it might be best to start a new thread rather than take the HC Setups Pics thread off-topic.

Seeing as we've had plenty of general DIY threads in the General Forum and a few AV specific questions scattered around this one, I'm not entirely sure which of the two places is more appropriate. I think this one just about edges it though.

1. Are KEF Eggs "light" enough (cos they're pretty solid) to mount with their provided stands/wall-brackets on a plasterboard wall?

2. Are there any acoustical drawbacks to doing so for front speakers?

If anyone else has any questions, I'd be happy to monitor this thread and update this first post with links to questions and answers, should it grow sufficiently. A kind of AV-DIY FAQ if you will :dork:

The KEF's are meant to be wall mounted and won't suffer any acoustic problems by doing so.

Plasterboards should be fine - but don't use plastic rawlplugs, go for the self-driving metal plugs that are meant exactly for this sort of job. I've got VM1's mounted this way with no problems, along with various shelves and some weighty Mission M71's. You can get packs of 10 with screws for about £5 and they're excellent. You also don't need to use a drill as they tap into the wall themselves.

I know exactly the things you mean - I used several of them to fix a bed sheet to the ceiling when I first got my projector :D Cheers.

Looks like I'll be channelling the cable and wall mounting the speakers then. Nice one, cheers.
