I was going to post this in the bargain forum but with a 2gig limit, not sure how much a bargain it really is.
none the less a looks like price war on the horizon

2 gig limit on a 2mbit service? So you can technically use your entire month's limit in just over 2 hours?

Sounds rubbish to me. :|

Rubbish offer designex to grab headlines only & not maybe a few unsuspecting n00bs. I wouldn't have thought that many with any experience of the internet would take this offer up.

I think you have to ask yourself what is the point of having 2MB if you're limited to 2Gb a month

More and more ISPs are going to offer deals like this and I can see it coming that if you want an unlimited package you will have to pay a premium for it.

Isn't that a 2GByte limit? Not a 2gbit.

Even still, but if you want a fast connection and do odd downloading then it will suit someone.

Well its good for me!
I don't need to download a lot of data at home. I can do that at work much faster.
I'm currently on plus net's 512k service at £25 per month and my usage is pretty much around the 1-2GB per month range. So, for £14.99 i can upgrade to the 2Mb service and pay £5 less per month. I'm happy.

I am just about to sign to plus.net for a 2mb unlimited service, pity that they haven't reduced the price of that at all though :(

I've been with Plusnet for the last 2 years, first on 512 then 1mb - just moved to 2mb. 1mb was costing me £32.99, 2mb is now £39.99 inc. premium d/l rate so its worth it to me for another 7 squid.

Very good service - thinks its been down about 3 times in the last 18 months, outage time wasn't too bad - longest was about 2 hours.

Hmm, thinking of upgrading to 1mb from 512k. We're with Nildram atm, but want it a bit faster. Wouldn't mind to go to a cheaper provider though - Don't know if their prices will stay the same after this Pipex takeover anyway?

I must agree. What are you d/l with 100GB in 2 weeks....?

Jeez... I'm on 2 Meg line and feel guilty if one day in a week I download 4.7GB for a *ahem* back up utilities. :suspect:

Its alot yes, but nowhere near what he could get if he wanted - over a 24h period he should be able to get approx. 18Gb at a constant 240kbs.

Thats 180Gb in 10 days. "Do you wish to download entire Internet Yes/No"

problem with big fast connection is you don't think twice about downloading big stuff...

Just the other day due to machine problems I thought'd be useful to have an OS on CD bootable (Linux based so legal)... 700Mb... I din't even blink I jsut downloaded it... 30 mins later there it was :)

And I fancied tinkering around with SQLSERVER the other day so downloaded the trial version...

Same with Personal Oracle

If a CD takes 30 mins to download and a DVD 4hours then I tend to just download first and think about how much I'll use it later...

Hopefully Blueyonder don't mind excessive usage :)... On their terms and conditions the only restriction is that 256k broadband users must stick to 750mb per day... which is pretty generous compared to ADSL limits which seem ludicrous to me!

I mean that 2mb service with 2gig per month limit is pathetic... that would be 66mb per day! whats the point of 2mb speed if you can use your daily allowance in just over 5 mins!

Does anyone know why cable companies don't have bandwidth limits like ADSL... is it cos the technology is different? is bandwidth not an issue for the cable companies?
