Seems to be a bit of a bargain for a 36" TV, no idea if it's any good, but as I'm thinking about buying it, any feedback on it would be appreciated! ;) Link to Currys (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/pan/TrackerServlet?p=1469&a=60823&g=13819&url=http://www.currys.co.uk) home page, go to the bank holidays special offers page, can't work out how to get rid of session id. :(

I can't find a spec saying if it will do NTSC progressive scan, anybody got this tv or can find another spec showing NTSC progressive scan?

Very tempted if it does do it.

According to this (http://www.jvc-europe.com/JvcCons/Press/Bel/dist.html) it's 75hz.

Mmmm , I only cut & pasted off a dealers site which stated 50hz on the header bar . Makes me wonder now but here are the UK links which I think are more applicable to the set on offer :

Hi Guys

The 36P38 JVC has Digital Image Scaling Technology which means it can operate at 75hz and look to the human eye as if it is 100Hz. The human eye cannot see anything above 65Hz, so whether you have 100Hz or 75Hz, you still get a great picture!

Cheers

Went to Currys at lunchtime and had a good look at this TV. I'm afraid that I came away disappointed.

The set looks attractive enough, the stand not so attractive, the legs are just a bit too wide IMHO.

The TV was showing the Currys RF feed which is very digitally altered by the DIST processing. I asked if it had progressive scan. No1 assistant didn't have a scooby, so called over No2 assistant. Nope, only the Toshiba has that was the reply. I tried to give her a subtle hint and asked why it has component inputs on the back then? She went away to check and came back with the NO answer again. No offer made to try it out with a DVD player.

She checked the stock. 48 nationwide for England and Scotland, so if I wanted one I'd better buy it quick she said.

It comes with 6 months interest free credit. I asked what discount if I just paid it up front. No chance she said we want you to take out the credit agreement as a lot of people just pay the min payment over 4 years.

I had high hopes for this TV. It may be great through component but I was never shown it. However, the picture quality through the Curry's feed did leave a LOT to be desired and has put me off this TV.

p.s. Cross posted this to the other JVC36" TV from Currys thread in the Hardware Forum too

I should find out if it's any good on 11th of September. Ordered it on the never never through the website, takes up to 14 days to process credit, and knowing my luck (and Experian don't seem to like me!), I won't be eligible.
Not TOO bothered if I don't get it, just it's about time to replace my Asda £500 bargain Fidelity 32" widescreen goldfish bowl I got about 5 years ago, and this seems like another bargain.

This is also posted in my other thread too.

Re the comments on picture quality, it's still guarenteed to look FAR better than my current TV, and at the price, I couldn't refuse. :n0rty:

just seen this TV in the shop, and it is a bit cheap and nasty, especially the remote, which looks like its been painted with a can of silver from halfords.
on the plus side it seem to be responsive and show about as good a picture as possible. plus it has 3 scarts. but personally speaking I would not but one. but you cant knock the price.

The remote's not even a consideration, got my trusty old HTM MX500, so will only use the JVC one for 5 minutes for learning. ;) Glad you think the pictures OK though, always good to know.

I've just bought one of these babies with delivery on tuesday. I even took my sony dvd unit up and wired it up. The picture looks excellent with all the picture gizmo's turned off via component input and the sound from the tv speaker's is great too. I'm well chuffed with this bargain, having a 28" just now.

Thank's to the op.

What is the picture quality like on this set during fast motion ? ie Football etc . If it is 75hz will this stop motion blurring ?
I've just been looking at my mums Philips 36" & it is terrible . I'm in the market for a 36" but prefer 50hz technology at the moment as I can't stand the motion blur of most modern 100hz sets .

Sounds like they're poo then? Just checking as my 36" itch is getting in need of scratching... :D
