View Full Version : Who is the best or worst devil?

McMikey

I thought it'd make an interesting question. At the moment I'd probably go with Jack Nicholson (WOE) although I 've probably not seen many Devil films in fact the only others I can name at the mo are Liz Hurley, Al Pacino, Gabriel Byrne oh and that weird looking thing at the end of spawn.

So who do you think can play the bad guy or who'd do it well, maybe Christopher Lee (has he already done this?)

just realised this is in the wrong forums aswell meant to put it into DVD & MOVIE DISCUSSION sorry

also edited as pointed out from later post

Well McMikey,
you may not have seen [name of film removed on edit to avoid spoilers] yet, but at least you already know the suprise ending!
Maybe you might want to insert a spoiler warning for others who don't know it.

If Satan looked like Liz Hurley in Bedazzled then I would start sinning today! :D

I thought Peter Cook in the original Bedazzled had the right mix of cruelty and sarcasm, but then I haven't seen the remake so maybe Liz did OK too.

Umm, Satan in South Park should get a special mention for being pussy whipped.
Even though Satan didn't appear in Dogma, I thought Jason Lee was a pretty good acolyte.
Geez, he didn't even appear in the Omen films either. Is he hiding behind his minions or something? I thought that was just politicians.

Thanks for the edit McMikey.
The film you mentioned is certainly worth discussing in this category, but it's nice to not know too much when you first see it.

Gabriel Byrne in End of Days, the only thing that made that
film worth watching (mind you him in nothing but cream a flake
and a couple of cherries would have been nice)

 :p

Yes, I agree, Tim Curry is the best. When he steps out of that mirror,... Whew! I could not get my head around the fact he was Frankenfurter [sp] in Rocky Horror..

Boink!:p

I think this is in the wrong forum.

Best villain would have to be Christopher Walken, for such awesome roles as in King of New York, Things to do in Denver When You're Dead, Suicide Kings, etc.

The most "cunning devil" has got to be Liam Neeson in Under Suspicion (1992, only on widescreen LD or standard VHS). But I might be biased as I've just watched it again in all it's OAR glory

So earlier on in the thread McMickey was asked to remove spoilers for the film you mention (Although it is obvious from later posts which film he was talking about the spoiler element was made just unclear enough so as to not do any damage) and you both just repeat them further down. Duh!

I know its not about my favourite devil, but does anyone know if The Prophecy, with Christopher Walken as the angel Gabriel,is out on R2?

This thread reminded me of it.
Love that film.

Al Pacino, Gabriel Byrne, Robert deniro, and Christopher Walken as a badass Gabriel in the Prophecy.

The prophecy is only available on region 1, got all 3 films, supposed to have been coming out as a boxset on region 1 but couldn't wait and bought them seperately.

richkev

Prophecy 1, 2 and 3. Only 1 was released here to buy Prophecy 2 was released for rental but never seen it for sale. To get the full picture of the first you need to watch the other 2.
