I know, I know, this subject has been covered time and time again, but number one, I've searched and haven't been able to find the answers I'm looking for, and two, I'm not exactly what you would call technically minded!

Anyway, it's standard stuff, I have my PC and broadband connection upstairs in my office/study. My Xbox is downstairs in the lounge however. I understand from reading around that I need a wireless router upstairs and a wireless ethernet bridge or wireless ethernet gaming adapter downstairs. So my questions are as follows:

Which should I go for, a wireless ethernet bridge or wireless ethernet gaming adapter?

Linksys seem to be favourite amongst gamers/users of wireless networks and I'm thinking of the WAG54G as the router and the WET11 wireless bridge or WGA11B gaming adapter.

What are your thoughts on these?
Do you know of anyone cheaper than BroadandBuyer.co.uk?
Are these things all compatible with each other?

Sorry for all the questions - thanks!

I used a D-Link DWL-810 and this just plugs and plays. I am about to sell it if you are interested as I have moved my Xbox next to my PC (I now plug it into my 20" TFT :) ) This does 11mbps and as the Xbox only has a 10meg network port it is ideal.

let me know if you are interested in buying it before it goes on Ebay

Thanks for the reply and the offer mate, but I think I'm going to go down the 'brand new' road, and specifically the Lynksys route as I've read a lot good things around here......

Cheers

I'm got a WAG54G and WET11 for the Xbox and they both work very nicely.

the Xbox only has a 10meg network port

It's definately 10/100. Perhaps you are thinking of the GC
Bear in mind that if you use any other 54g devices your speed will drop to 11Mbs for all of them if using any 11b items. Not a problem unless you are moving large files about or streaming avi files.

I use a 3com 54g WAP that also has bridge functionality (didn't need it when I got a new wireless router, but ideal for the xbox), it's been rock solid
