Hi, I need to upload a PDF file to my website, but Im behind a University firewall, and this wont allow write access to an ftp directory.
Ive also tried the Upload facility of my webhost (HostEurope) but this seems to flunk out (the file is 6mb)
Does anyone have any idea how I could get my file to where it wants to be!!!?

Your uni's firewall cant prevent write access. If you can log on then it should work. Make sure your client is set up to use PASV mode tho.

Well it comes up with the message "The directory is read only because the proxy is not set up to allow full access"

Are there any strange proxy settings in your FTP client? If not you might be behind a nasty nasty invisible proxy that intercepts everything. Not a lot you can do about that afaicr.

Yep think its a nasty nasty invisible proxy. We cant seem to get a lot here. Although something that really bugs me is how the Japanese exchange students here at Uni seem to be able to access all the good stuff - Messenger, Video streams etc.... Hmmph how does that work.

Ah sorted ftp now, great, set firewall to 5.0.0.7 and it worked...
Now, any one know how to get video streaming working through a SQUID proxy?

Strange you say that. Student accounts at my uni are quite restricted too, but they've also managed to get around that and have somehow installed MSN Messenger / ICQ etc. etc.
Weird!
cant you set MSN etc to use http port 80? or am I being a bit simplistic?
