Only just seen it (shame on me), and was about to order when I realised there are two versions, which do I go for, and what are the differences? I'm sure this has been asked before, but with search not working...sorry:)

There are R4 and R1 releases coming out in December and I think the R4 is out first. The R1 disc will be a Fox 5 Star collection DVD and has bags of special features but no DTS track and the PR currently states that it will be 1.85:1 anamorphic, but the film was screened in the 2.35:1 ratio theatrically.

The R4 disc has the DTS, it also has the correct ratio confirmed and it's out earlier and will be cheaper.

I personally think the 5 star disc will be a slightly better looking DVD, but I'm not ordering it until there is some form of confirmation that it's 2.35:1.

With the current exchange rate, me too.

Excellent soundtrack by the way - might have to fork out for it.

As re: the 4% slowdown, I have read extensively about the reasons for this, but as both Amazon.com (R1, NTSC) and EzyDVD (R4, PAL) indicate a 127min. running time, doesn't that mean that for whatever reason, they will be the same (i.e. no difference in pitch of note, or speed)?

People who talk about PAL or NTSC speed up or slowdown either look like the guy below or will look like that. So be warned -you still have time! :D

head on over to the bbfc website, the extras are starting to go through and it looks a pretty impressive set already

Rusty: ...it's 4% speed-up, not slowdown (compared to an NTSC disc, a PAL DVD - or LD, or VHS tape - runs at 25fps, which, in the case of movies-made-for-the-cinema, results in a ~4% speed-up, equal to approx. one quarter tone change in pitch, unnoticed by 99,9301% of the several hundred million people worldwide, including yours truly, who live in PAL areas...)...

Moulin Rouge Menus (http://www.dvdshrine.com/story.shtml?id=6858&cat=current)

Here are some screens for the menus. The PR still looks like it states the Aspect Ration is 1:85:1. This is the only thing that is bothering me.

Nice menus BTW, looks very much like the excellent website.

The best film of the year (IMO, of course) looks like it's getting the best disc of the year as well...can't wait!
