and is it worth?
thanks for all comments
More details please.
In most commercial speakers up to about £200 the tweeter would probably cost about £10-£20 as a replacement part.It would be easy to do so it`s probably worth it.Check the company for replacement costs. But without knowing more about your particular speaker it`s hard to say more

my speaker is a kef.
and is it an easy repair.
if you can get hold of a replacement tweeter it should be a staright swap - unscrew old tweet, remove wire, re-wire to new tweet and screw back -- thats if its held in by screws. If its under a year old, you can always get it fixed under the warrantee

can i use any tweeter and carry out the repair myself
er... you probably can (assuming they are the same size, have the same mounting points, and power handling/range) but whether the centre will sound the same will depend on the quality of the tweeter and if they are matched to the mids.

what have caused me to damage the tweeter?
and does this effect my treble?
is the tweeter making any noise at all? if its not then try unscrewing it from the case and see if the connection has come loose.
The tweeter is what makes all the high notes so it will definitely affect your ventre treble.

I have Q35.2's, and recently the bass driver failed took it back to the retailer and they replaced it within 2 hours on a Sat afternoon, for free under the 5 yr guarantee that comes with the Q series.
Which speaker do you have? I have just received a Q95.2 from Superfi ( xcellent service, spotted it in the bargain forum) and it uses the same driver as the 35. When mine failed I phoned Kef and was told about £30 + fitting should I have to pay.
Hope this helps.
