2 late goals from Hartson and Craig Douglas Bellamy

Good performance in the 1st half, but were 2nd best after the break, but im not complaining with the result.

Beckham!!!! Scores a tap in from a John Terry cross. Not something that happens much, only the 3rd goal he's scored from open play

Has Alan Shearer been taking a course of charisma injections? He's on good form.

Kieron Dyer's just come on and got booed :D

Impressed with the youngsters tonight.

But what a pathetic crowd, booing your own player. :oh-hum:

Not too exciting but it was okay. Defoe should have scored but as they said, it was probably because he wanted to make such an impression. It seems with SKE that a player can do well but when it comes to the crunch they won't play.

Don't blame them if Dyer did, as reported, refuse to play for Newcastle just 'cos Bobby wanted him to play right mid :oh-hum: After all, the crowd are the ones paying for the most part his wages

Good all round stuff tonight. Only Dyre, Smith and Butt failed to really do anything.
Good to hear Dyre get the treatment he deserved. Hopefully it will act as a kick up the backside and he can start to realise his potential.

Defoe was as lively as usual - shame he didn't finish that golden chance though. That would've given Sven a bit of a headache up front IMO.

Lots of talk that if Bridge was fit, he would've played LM. I always thought the key combo of Cole/Bridge would be best t'other way round, but dunno how much weight these reports had...

I doubt it. He could have dribbled past the whole team and calmly slipped it past the keeper then go on to score a hat trick and Sven would still pick owen (Assuming Rooney's a shoe-in)

Hanson had a lot of good things to say about Defoe but I don't remember him saying much on saturday, in a game where he scored a fantastic goal

watched the game and thought that was one of englands best performances I have seen for a while, all the players looked comfortable.
And it's good to know we have loads of talent coming through, SWP goal was a perfect strike, across the keeper into the far corner, well done!

Good win for Wales away in Latvia.

Indeed. A very good Latvia side we beat tonight.
I thought our performance was excellent. Sure we missed savage hugely when he went off at half time and the midfield didn't quite look the same without him, but thats one of the best performances i've seen using he 4-4-2 under Sparky. Nice to see Gary Speed back in Midfield. I thought we played some lovely stuff in the middle during the first half.
Bellamy was immense - chased everything and was a real pain in their ass all night. Took his goal superbly too, I just hope we can keep him fit for the qualifiers.
I don't know how Hartson keeps his cool though. he's not given an inch by referee's and much of his work goes punished when he's doing nothing wrong. The incident yesterday where he was stood, back to goal, and the keeper rushed out and barged into HIM, yet got a free-kick was a complete joke. Everything he did all night was harshly punished, but he had the last laugh with the opening goal.

Bring back Gabbidon into that side and we've got a pretty decent XI, plus the likes of Giggs and Earnie to come on

On a side note, tickets are now available for the N.Ireland qualifier on 8th Sept. Just booked mine now via Ticket-master

I would have booed him too if I was a Newcastle fan. After paying hundreds of pounds a season to support the club and players like Dyer's lavish lifestyles, I think they are perfectly entitled to sound their objections when he treats the club and manager with no respect.

SWP, Johnsen and Defoe all looked good and Beckham was classy. Johsen and SWP to play down the right and Beckham to move into the middle please!

Dont think so. I had no trouble ordering this morning. Then again I was only offered tickets for the upper tier. Ticketline no longer had tickets availble for the Family enclosure afaik
