Great spot... wish I had some money...
how do you get the 128MB card?
do a search on the forum for "a60 mum plus one"
it's a print off voucher which you send away.
found it, thanks very much. Bit worried that it is 'only' 2MP, but certainly worth it as a second camera.
If anyone lives in the watford area, I am happy to combine orders to save on postage. :)
What's this "infamous E-18 error" that someone mentions in their review?
Is it something that we should be worried about if ordering this digicam?

No idea about an E-18 error to be honest, just heard rave reviews on this camera!

Don't worry about the 2MP thing. I used mine in NY this April & got some FANTASTIC shots. I've since gone on & sold it to a family member now and have a lovely, shiny, ixus 500  (Must admit I kinda miss the "scene" settings the A60 had though.) AND, my 2nd 128 CF freebie turned up  today too!!
All the best...Flyer

Gone for this, never had a digital camera before and this looks perfect for me. Cheers to the original poster!

Where did you get the ixus 500 from. That's what I'd like to get as I have an Olympus E-20P and whilst it is great, the size puts me off taking it everywhere.
Hi Dilly,
I got mine from Empire Direct BUT only because I am bloom'n impatient & I can pick up from their Bradford depot (Am in Harrogate). (They can beaten on price easily) TBH I had purchased a SONY DSC 1 from them for this reason but couldn't put up with the "soft" images. Had I had the patience to wait for them to come in stock, I would've got it from InternetCamerasDirect (Yorkshire & web based again!) as they seemed dirt cheap & had great reviews. (You also got some freebies if you ordered from them too.) TBH, I think they can be had from places like ebuyer & 7dayshop etc but people have conflicting opinions about these companies. Personally, I've ordered from both and have been extremely satisfied.
Good luck, I'm sure you won't be disappointed...ATB...Flyer...

Took my A60 to Alps over the weekend and it's produced the goods as usual. Superb photos and no complaints about it only being 2 Megapixels. Thoroughly Recommended!

Just out of interest what is the RRP on this camera?

Now there's a thought. Many thanks for the tip.

I don't think it's officially sold any more, so any RRP would be outdated and meaningless.

Early last year this camera was RRP at £249, then cut to £199, then £159. That's when I jumped on board.

Still selling for £137 and £180 at two sites on pricerunner
One of those sites is some really dodgy European supplier (look at the reviews), so they probably don't even have it.
For the other, there is no direct link (www.datecsys.co.uk) but the A60 does not appear to be on their site.
...
The nearest current model as far as I can tell is the A75 - £162 at most places according to PriceRunner.
There a Flash thing on www.powershot.com which lets you compare it side-by-side with the A60. Differences seem to be:
Resolution: A60 is 2MP, A75 is 3.3MB
Digital Zoom: A60 is 2.5x, A75 is 3.2x
Weight: A75 is 200g, A60 is 215g
Shooting Modes: A75 has a few more (probably not important)
Otherwise the specs are pretty much identical.
One other comparison is with the Nikon Coolpix 2200 - available for around £90 at most places, now (e.g. Boots)

The price now on Ebuyer has gone up to £99 inc VAT! So slightly more with delivery as well...
Gone up in price to £79.99 + vat + del
For those considering this camera the only major downside to 2 MP is that the results are so darn good you'll want to blow them up way bigger than you can!!! 7 by 5 is about the limit for good results. I would definitely buy another Canon camera, been totally blown away by it, I now have arty looking photos all over my house...
gotta agree, ive had one of these for a while now, its a bit bulky but i rocks.

Just got this and it seems like a bargain, although it is a little bulky and you can't zoom in and out when doing video clips. I've never had a digital camera until I bought this one so there's a couple of questions regarding the memory card if anyone can help.
It came with a 16mb card but I know you can get a 128mb from the 'Mum + 1 promo'. I know that the 128mb is obviously bigger but can anyone advise roughly how much photos/video clips 16mb can hold compared to a 128mb? Or does that also depend on the camera? Nothing's mentioned about this in the manual...
Try page 215 of the manual.
Obviously it depends on the 'quality' setting for your pics. The higher the quality, the less pics it can store.
