Decided to listen to the commentary track on the Eureka Video 2-disc edition of Nosferatu last night and it's just excellent. Gives a very in-depth analysis of the film and opened up whole new areas of film for me. Well worth a listen if you have it.

Fellow Undead,

it was rumoured six months ago that BFI (or someone) would be releasing this in the version with the James Bernard score.

Any update on this?

Yours Sanguinely,
Lik.

How does the Eureka version compare to the various other dvds of "Nosferatu" that have been released?

I mentioned this ages ago and then it looked as if no one else had listened to it. Did anyone else think this 'commentary' was a 'reading' instead and that the speaker was simply narrating from a script (written by someone else perhaps)? It certainly sounded like that to me.

Quite a few people were after a release with the Bernard score but the score that acompanies it currently is wonderfully different and effective.

Definately sounded like a reading. The guy had one of those gravelly sounding voices which made me think 'voice over man'. Doesn't detract from the quality of the commentary though, whoever wrote it has analysed the film quite thoroughly.
