I wonder if someone might help me. I am trying to set up a home system between two pcs:

Both Win XP Home SP2, Actiontec 802.11b wireless adapters

I put the hardware in, switched pcs on, loaded software on both pcs.

It seems then it is just a matter of going through the wizard, setting up a home connection and then typing the long 'key' into the other pc, but the wireless network connection says 'not connected', refreshing it does no good.

Microsoft firewall is switched off on both, I have Norton security on both but switched off on the secondary pc (the one ont connected to the internet) and refreshed, still no joy. I am reluctant to switch off my main one though if this is the problem of course I will try that.

I am really pulling my hair out about this and would greatly appreciate any advice, I am a bit of a novice so may have missed something obvious.

Thank you

Well after many hours and much ranting I seem to have set up the wireless connection. I'm not sure how but I have, green lights on both pcs.

Now to sharing the internet connection, I thought this might be the easy bit using the network wizard - why do these not work?

In Network connections I have three layers of 'networks'

Top layer Broadband - My ISP - disconnected, Firewalled, WAN Miniport (PPPOE)

Middle Layer Connection Manager - Blueyonder roaming access, Disconeccted, Firewalled, SoftV92 Data Fax Modem

Bottom layer - 2 Items

On the left - Wireless Network Connection, connected Firewalled, Actiontec USB 801.2

On the Right - Local Area Connection - Connected, Firewalled, SIS 900- Based Fast Ethernet Adapter

When I try to Connect the 'other' pc to the net it tries to dial a connect to 'my isp' which is the only element under connections in Internet Properties.

I have now been firmatting and rebuilding 2 pcs for 16 hours and this is the last hurdle, any help really would be appreciated, I wanted to do this before tommorow but must soon go to bed!

Thanks in anticipation
