Just browsing through my last Britannia magazine and noticed they have the Carry On Box Set (dvd obviously:)), containing 12 of the films for £39.99!

Does anyone know which 12 are included?

Thanks.

What's the point of a Carry On boxset without Carry on up the Khyber?

The boxset of the Carry On films contain all the earlier ones that were done.

Video/DVD rights to the Carry Ons are owned by different companies. Canal Plus owns the rights to the first 12 that are contained in the "Ultimate" collection.

Anchor Bay will be releasing the same 12 films next October, two films per disc in a box set that includes That's Carry On as a bonus - the only Carry On that's unavailable in any format, anywhere. Rumour has it there'll be original trailers for the films too.

I wouldn't hold your breath on ever receiving this if you do order it from Britannia - check out the Britannia Bargain thread on the Bargain forum.

I guess that it's not the same as the one on 'Carry on Camping' ? http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00004CYY6.02.LZZZZZZZ.gif

Er, no - that's "What's a Carry On". A 50 minute documentary made for TV in 1998. It says so on the box you just linked to. You can find a review of that over at Carry On Line.

That's Carry On is a film compiling clips from the Carry On series linked by Kenneth Williams and Barbara Windsor. Released in cinemas in 1978, once on video tape in the mid 80s and never rereleased since.

For more info on the differences between the two (apart from the fact that they have different names :D ) visit Carry On Line (www.carryonline.com)

Yup, I guessed that, but wanted it confirmed as it wasn't very clear from the original post what 'That's Carry On ' was.

WRT the different names, it's not totally unusual for productions to get different names in the UK and US. Because these would be US discs and the one that I pointed to was a disc produced for the UK market I didn't know whether that was one of those cases. Obviously not ! :D

Looking back through my original response, you're absolutely right. My apologies - I'm so used to dealing with questions from Carry On fans via the website that I just assume people know the differences between then.

If you haven't seen What's A Carry On, it's worth checking out - it's about the best documentary available about the films.

I think "That's Carry On" was an answer or cash in on the "That's Entertainment" compilations from MGM that were very popular at the time.
The Carry on team not quite sending up them as much as themselves, linked by Barbara Winsor and Kenneth Williams in a projection box. Three 10 minute reels were released on Super8 film.
