Not sure where to put this post - sorry if this is not the right place.

I wanted to post a picture (rather than a link). I thought this should do it, but just the link appears. Can you help me put the picture itself in the thread please?

Thanks
Arthur

Umm...odd. For starters your [\img] has the slash the wrong way around. But fixing that still doesn't work. Even if they blocked direct linking you'd get a red X or something.

Colin? You playing with the vBB tags?

Guess not

its possible it doesn't as its not a straight xxxx.jpg file. plus you may be leaching an image of another site which may not be your own. posting piccies have to be off your own webspace

Guess that must be it - no filename or anything, just a query string. Not come across that before. I've not come across trying to inline an image with that kind of URL with VBB tags before I mean - seen plenty of query string urls before :D

threadkiller - fotopic is an image hosting service, so chances are it's his pic.

I loaded an image (jpg) from my PC to fototopic (not used it before). JPG looks fine on my pc and the link works ok.

Arthur - Its not showing correctly because of the file name, most pics when they are shown online are given simple address such as this one:

Yeah, we had this problem with the SETI sigs.

The vBulletin software doesn't like parameters being passed within img urls (anything with ? and & in). It's a real pain, as the seti sigs needed to pass the team members name to the image generation script, I had to come up with ways to get around the parameter passing problems.

You'll just have to host it somewhere that gives you a non-parameterized url... :)
