Anyone know anything about this short film?

It was called "The Black Angel" and it was tagged onto the front of The Empire Strikes Back when it went on theatrical re-release in the early 80s.

Sort of a medieval thing involving a knight wandering around some spooky woods, very moody, minimal dialogue... I remember being utterly nonplussed by it at the time (I was about 10 or 11), but I'd like to know more now!

The IMdB lists a 1979 independent film called Black Angel, but has no information beyond the names of its director and composer (Roger Christian and Trevor Jones).

Bet you thought you weren't going to hear from anyone...?

I'll own up, and last night I watched my Region 1 copy of Battlefield Earth. It was only £8 and I wanted to see what everyone was moaning about. It was pretty awful but I had a look at the cast and crew information, and amongst the info on the director, Roger Christian, it said that he had been art director for Star Wars/Alien/Life of Brian and 2nd unit director for the Phantom Menace. He was one of the first people to portray science fiction in films as more grimy/realistic than previously seen. I think that he won an oscar for Star Wars and the short film that they mentioned in the info, "Black Angel". It explains why it was teamed with TESB.

Aparentally it was George Lucas who suggested Roger Christian for "Battlefield Earth". With friends like George...
