Hi all, first-time poster here.

Today I recieved a shiny new Freeloader 1.06B for my Gamecube. Upon inserting the FL disc into my GC i am confronted with either an error saying that the disc could not be read or the GC will boot as if there is no disc present.

I have looked closely at the FL disc and it doesn't appear to be damaged at all. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I might solve my problem? I won't be able to phone Datel until the morning so any help I can get now i will be thankful for.

I also purchased my GC on launch day, I don't know if this has any bearing on the laser it uses or anything...

was it definately a PAL freeloader?
If so send it back to the chaps that made it and get a replacement..

It was manufactured in England but as far as I know, all Freeloaders are region free so they can be used in all territories to play all games. I'm going to give Datel a call in the morning when their support line opens up to see if they can shed any light on the matter.

Any other suggestions in the meantime anybody?

I've had the same problem a couple of times. If I turn the Cube off, remove the disc and put it in again, it works fine. It happens perhaps one time in fifty... and I also bought my Cube on launch day. :suspect:

It may just be a faulty disk.

I had the exact same problem when I bought my copy of freeloader soon after it was released (I can't remember which version it was but I don't think it was 1.06B). I sent it back, received a replacement and that one has worked fine ever since.

It may be a faulty disc. I haven't had any problems with mine, though im not sure what version it is.
