So there's supposed to be an exclusive trailer, accessible ONLY trough the DVD-ROM content on The Phantom Menace DVD. And this trailer will not work unless your DVD is in the DVD-ROM drive. And some of the usual sources who are kind enough to host their own version of the teaser trailers say they won't touch this one, because Lucasfilm will get too mad. It's exclusive. It's for people who bought the Phantom Menace DVD only.
Well here's the trouble... I bought The Phantom Menace DVD, but I don't have a DVD-ROM drive. I can only watch DVDs with my stand-alone player. So I have PAID for the right to see this exclusive trailer, but I'm not going to be allowed to see it!
So what can I do? I guess it will end up on Morpheus or something, but I only have a 56k dial-up connection and I don't fancy downloading 100 megs of fake fan-made crap before I finally get the real thing. So will ANYONE be able to host it, or send it to me, or something, please?

I somehow don't think that Lucasfilm and 20th C Fox have to show you the trailer because you don't have a DVD Drive. That would be like them having to send you a 6.1 EX amp because you cannot listen to 6.1 track on the disc without it!!
Get real!

You are allowed to see it. Just buy a DVD-Rom drive!
I'm with john316 here. How can you complain when you got the disc knowing full well you have no dvd-rom drive?!
Is that not like buying a car when you have no license only to tell the police 'well I PAID for the car so of course I can drive it!!'.
No? I'll get me coat........
But you see what I'm (and john) trying to say.

I can sympathise - but the reason I won't be able to view the trailer is because I have an iMac. I find it rather strange that the DVD-ROM features won't work on an Apple Mac, when Apple are the ones who pioneered Quicktime - no Quicktime, no high quality video. On top of this, I'm one of the ones who paid £20 for Quicktime Pro, and although I can at least download the largest teaser trailer, I'm still going to miss out on this one.
Damn, it boils my blood. I can understand the DVD-ROM thing...I mean, without one you just wouldn't be able to access on-line features. But this is a case of Mac vs. PC, and I think it's about time companies like FOX started including DVD-ROM content for Macs.

Doesent the same DVD-Rom software work on Mac DVD ROMS as well as PC DVD Roms?
