Hi,

All the talk in the previous threads about which DVDs to watch at Christmas time, has put me in the moode for ordering Christmas DVDs. So, where is the cheapest place to buy:

It's a wonderful life
Muppets Christmas carol

??

I checked on some of the Australian sites, but they didn't seem to have `Muppets Christmas carol'.

Any ideas,

James

Cheapest I've seen It's A Wonderful Life R2 is £12.99 from under18.org.uk (it's currently £13.99 at Play). The R1 is about £10 delivered from DVDBoxOffice but you might not get it in time for Christmas ;) I think the R4 is due for a re-release soon and it'll probably be about £11 or so from there, so you might want to hang on for a little bit :)

Vaguely on-topic, in the US in the last 18 months or so, Golden Books/Sony Wonder and Warners have been doing some pretty sterling work with R1 discs of classic "children's" Christmas DVDs (i.e. we say we buy them for the kids in the family :) ).

A Charlie Brown Christmas
and the stop-motion animated classics:
Year Without A Santa Claus
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964, Rankin/Bass)
Frosty The Snowman
The Little Drummer Boy
Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town (Rankin/Bass)

are all available in R1, the last four as a box set! :) :) :)

And "White Christmas" is due for a R4 release in a few weeks.

Just spotted It's A Wonderful Life in Virgin's 2 for £22 sale -- as far as I know, it's the cheapest place to get the R2 at the moment :D

It's A Wonderful Life is coming out on R2 again, it's the same disc but it loses the crapper snapper case, we get an amaray instead. I think it's out Dec 13th (or close to that)

Along the same lines, does anyone know if A Christmas Carol has been released (the Albert Finney singing version)? I'd love to get this film on DVD but so far, zip :(

Love watching this film over Christmas but my VHS version <spit!> is starting to get very worn.

The one I just bought from Virgin is in an Amaray :D

EDIT: The cover is different to the one Play shows; the logos are in a different order (they've switched places anti-clockwise). Odd...
