View Full Version : Three Colours: Red
This is a marvellous disc, with great extras -- there must be an hour or more of interview material, lots of behind the scenes, deleted sequences even.
Didn't someone mention R1 special editions planned for next year? I don't think these R2s can be bettered (if the others are as good as Red), esp. with Kieslowski himself sadly deceased.
While I haven't yet watched the whole film I thought Red was the weakest of the releases in terms of picture quality. The print looked a bit light, lacking in contrast and solidness of blacks. The other two films in the trilogy look like they have much better transfers. Also, despite it claiming to have a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, it is in fact only Dolby Digital 2.0 while the other films are DD5.0.
The range of extras, although again I haven't fully explored them, do look excellent however. I'm certainly very pleased that mk2 and Artificial Eye have put so much into these R2 releases. But there is certainly room for improvement in the picture quality.
