The, ahem, Girlfriend has volunteered to be re-educated. How should I introduce her to 'The Conformist' in ten easy steps, preferably via. Evil Dead II and A Matter of Life and Death? ATM she's a bit of a Gump fan unfortunately, so this is quite urgent.:p

El Duderino, how about this? (using a sort of 'six-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon' philosophy...)

Forrest Gump
-Saving Private Ryan continuing the Tom Hanks theme...
-Good Will Hunting via Matt Damon
-The Fisher King via Robin Williams
-Brazil via Terry Gilliam
-Jackie Brown via Robert De Niro
-A Simple Plan via Bridget Fonda
-Evil Dead via director Sam Raimi
-Evil Dead II
-The Hudsucker Proxy via Bruce Campbell
-The Big Lebowski via the Coen Brothers, and I thought you'd appreciate this one ;)
-Magnolia via Julianne Moore
-Rain Man via Tom Cruise
-Papillon via Dustin Hoffman
-Planet Of The Apes via director Franklin J. Schaffner
-A Matter Of Life And Death via Kim Hunter
-Guns Of Navarone via David Niven
-Lawrence Of Arabia via Anthony Quinn
-The Last Emperor via Peter O'Toole and then Bernardo Bertolucci takes you finally to:
-The Conformist

Not a bad list either, both in terms of variety and quality (in terms of general opinion and for what it's worth, my own), okay I went a bit over the allotted "ten steps" but who cares? Just look at it as more teaching material! Hope it helps. :)

superb work my friend! :)

i doubt he expected a reply so quickly, and surely not one that was so detailed and containing so many good films! so come on, El Duderino, what do you think? and more importantly, have you put this to the GF yet?

You're right, I wasn't expecting such a quick or in-depth reply. I definitely agree with the inclusion of The Big Lebowski, but still can't decide on a definitive top ten, until then the GF will have to wait...:p
