Definately. About the best bang per buck you can get at that price. I've got one and don't even need it at quater volume to get a good feel for the effect.

Had one for about a year now and very pleased with it. Purchased from Richer Sounds & no problems so far.

There's a few good articles about setting it up on the forums , best to do a search on subwoofer or similar and see what comes up...

Enjoy:p

If I was to get a sub I would get this one too. My question is do I need one? My room is fairly small. Would it be overkill for me to add a PDR10 to my set up? Would it make a noticeable difference ? I've heard that a sub makes a seriously great improvement to a HC set up but with the size of my room is it worth it? It kinda bugs me that i may be missing out on the rumbles and vibrations. :)

My room measures 14' x 7.5'

with everything, TV and front speakers up against the width of the 7.5' wall

My kit...

Sony 940
Mission M73
Mission M7DS
Tannoy MXC

Anyone know where i can find out how to set the options for my amp (the bit where you get to set the fronts @ either 250Hz, 125Hz or so on) I got the basics set like no sub, distances of speakers etc.

Have you been to a Richer Sounds and see one in the flesh you can actually buy or are you just going by the ads? I'd make sure you can get hold of one first before you set your heart on it.

At least if you get one from Richers & it doesnt fit the bill for whatever reason you dont want it you can change it or get your money back (I got a sub from them in their sale but the missus went ape when she saw the size of it - like a small caravan!) I changed it to a much smaller Paradigm & it suits my little room fine ... Paul

I got one from richers now (they had a couple in stock at the Brum branch). Now about setting it up, I am bit confused as to the level setting, crossovers, phasing. I am using it with a Yammy 469 DD/DTS reciever, AR 132 mains, Ariston rears and a Quale front (not ideal but it will do until I get similar speakers all round).

How have others set up theirs? I know that setting a sub up depends on a number of factors so I am after ideas to try out.

Cheers

The quick and easy way is:

1. let the amp do the crossover, so crank the knob on the sub right up.

2. play something with a good spread of frequencies, turn the sub up until the bass just becomes intrusive, then knock it back a bit.

I did this when I was in a hurry when I first got the sub and have never found I needed to adjust it, sounded fine using the thx setup software.

I might have just been lucky but it worked for me. From memory mines set at about 10 o'clock. It's never intrusive but when the LFE gets going you are in no doubt it's there.
