This one is a time-travel movie set and possible made in Japan, where a 20th century army is transported back to the time of feudal (sp?) lords.

I saw it around the early 80's on video, but I have no idea when it might have been made.

Remember the film, just can't remember the name. If no one has named it by tomorrow evening, will ask a mate of mine who may remember the title. His emory for film names is better than mine.

I can still remember some of the scenes where some guys on tanks and APCs are surrounded and attacked by several thousand Japanese feudal warriors and them blazing away with machine guns and such, and the warriors just keeping coming, and coming, ....

Fun stuff!!

It was released on vid here with a title of "Time Slip" and starred Sonny Chiba. Original title was "Sengoku Jieitai" and was made in 1979 (had to cheat and got to imdb for the original title and date).

Cool film , it delivered with tanks and Samurai what "Final Countdown" promised to and failed to do with Zeros and jet-fighters. I think a local 2nd-hand emporium had an aged ex-rental copy a few months back for about £3.

:)

I am meant to be studying accountancy which is why I am here.

Damn!

I checked with IMDB as well, but couldn't find it as I checked from 1980 upwards. No wonder I couldn't find it.

Actually, tried inputting a few keywords at IMDB like "time travel", "army", "samurai", etc. and none of them brought up the answer.

Hm!!

Oh, finally a Guess the movie that I could've answered...

I've got a copy on VHS, but mine's called "Time Wars". Not an original ex-rental though, I got it from Kingdom of Films/The Video Vault in Oxford about 8 years ago. Some kind of rerelease, but the picture's fine and the it was new. Definitely the same film, with Sonny Chiba (probably better known for his appearance in True Romance :D ). An excellent film that I was only thinking of earlier this week, after watching Battle Royale!

I know it's only VHS, but it's one of a small number of tapes that I can't see myself getting rid of unless it's available Region 3?

It might be worth keeping in mind the other title if searching for info on the web.
