Can someone please tell me why hi-fi seperate amps don't have digital inputs but all CD plaers seem to have outputs would sound quality not be increased through a digital input?

I'm no expert here but my guess is that ppl prefer to use the CD players internal (or a dedicated external) DAC unit rather than the amps (if it has one at all).

Thats the reason why you get better stereo sound using stereo phonos rather than the digital output on a dvd player when playing CD's. It does on mine anyway :)

EDIT: CD players also have the digi outs so you can make an exact digital copy to MD etc
