My best friend's band Stalefish1 have been signed and their debut album was released yesterday. I am obviously pleased as punch for them and I really hope they make it.

I promised them that I would try and spread the word where I can so I have quoted a message off their website. I hope at least a few of you may like them. :)

"Mixing it like Incubus, being EDITED by Thrice and thrown some Deftones once the sweat starts to dry." Copro Records

“Think of Incubus getting aggressive with a warped off-kilter rythmn section and I think you’ll get the picture. Definitley ones to watch!”
David Lane – Metal Hammer 8/10

“Every song is a master class in how to change rythmn and tempo without sounding cluttered and confusing, something some major bands could take notes in. Ones to watch out for!”
Gigs Unlimited.

“Intense playing paired with brilliant harmonies make this band one to watch closely” www.audiocratic.com

"Stalefish1 have definetly found their groove, I really like the bridges and choruses" Rob Flynn - Machine Head

"Slamming guitars, emotive vocals, driving bass lines and powerful drums" - Mike Davies Radio 1

"intergrieren thereby fattest Mosh parts. Similarly grain is now and then beautifully loud" www.music-scan.de

Go and buy it, play it to other people and get them to buy it!

We'd like to thank EVERYONE who has been involved with the band in any way possible for helping us get this far. Hopefully we can get that little bit further with your help. Also come along and join in the fun on the message board. We have 130 registered users on there now, and is getting bigger all the time.

Remember, if you know someone that might like our music, please forward this email to them. Many thanks.

Has anybody given the free downloads a go? What with the many Metal fans on these forums, I'm sure at least a few may enjoy this band.

I'm sure CD Times would be happy to review the CD if they, or you, want to get in touch with someone there.

Saw the Incubus comparisons and immediately checked out the 2 free tunes. Honestly i though "Slowfinger was terrible. Not my thing really...far too much screaming. However "Friday" was a much better tune and i can see where the Incubus comparisions have come from. Unfortunely it just doesnt sound quite "honed" enough for me. I must say i thought the drummer was outstanding, however the guitar riffs lacked clarity and imagination - too many barre chords and not enough tone variation. Very samey really. However it wont stop me purchasing the album, provided you can assure me that there are more tunes like Friday on there?

The album has been remixed and therefore does have much better production values than the free downloads. Slowfinger is really the only shouty track on the album, most of the songs are actually quite melodic and are more like Friday. I was actually up for being the drummer in this band but I said no because I couldn't give them the dedication that was required.

Not bad!

Not my usual bag but pretty listenable. Reminded me a bit of Faith No More in Places and then closer to Machine Head in others.

If they're looking for gigs in the North East let me know and I'll see if I can help out through friends! ;)

Isn't this advertising against T&C's?

I'm only recommending a friend's band! I can remove the links to the online shops if it's a problem though.

I'm not that bothered as I dont make the rules but if I was in charge I'd say it was advertising (its irrelevant if you're a friend or not).

I've had threads closed before advertising my drummer mates latest album so keep up the good work for the band before you get the thread closed! Good luck with the album as well come to think of it.
