Anyone seen the trailer for Halo 2 that is doing the rounds in U.S cinemas?

No? Then watch it on IGN.com.

Anyway, right at the end, it flashes up xbox.com as expected, but it quickly changes to ilovebees.com then back again.

The site has some countdown timer which ends sometime in Aug so has no relation to the Halo 2 release date.

Anyone have any ideas what this is all about?

There are a few posts on Xbox.com about this.

Demo release date. Apparently. EstrangedGamers.com (http://www.estrangedgamers.com) (a video games forum I also go to) have been discussing this a bit.

Mmm, interesting. Any ideas how we are going to get this? Live download? OXM?

I might head over there later and have a read. Thanks.

Ah man... how much would a Live demo rock?!? :D

It'd have to be something international so OXM/Magazine release would be unlikely IMO.

The site's changed again now, there's lots more mysterious text appearing :)

I have to say I'm so impressed with what they've done here. Apparently the woman with the bee's site has a voicemail set up and everything, its a very well thought through little game they're playing.

Just 14 hours until it reaches zero.

Check yourself into your local A&E immediately - you have a seriously condition called Forsomereasonidontthinkeverydayabouthalo2itis which needs urgent treatment via download of Halo 2 videos and the visiting to Bungie.com

All depends on the timezone where the "ilovebees" guys are based ;)

Christ, what on Earth are Bungie smoking?

I mean how do they come up with this stuff? First the glyphs now this?

Pretty cool though.

Unfortunately, unless you want to wade through pages and pages of text and backstory from the Marathon games (which is all on the Bungie site), most people will be oblivious to the inner goings on here.

I know I am!

From what little I can gather, think artificial constructs (like Cortana, but hundreds and hundreds of years in the past - thousands?), all going bonkers, hurting people blah blah blah.

Quite honestly, it could mean the moon on a stick to me, but there are various forums that have gone into amazing detail about theories behind all this.

Unfortunately, it definitely isn't a demo release.

It's just viral marketing, nothing more, nothing less - to generate "buzz" (pun intended).

That's not as far off a windup as you'd think (though if obviously is). MS had a campaign in Canada where Master Chief appeared in papers and radio ads in the form of a dating agency recruitment campaign.

ilovebeer.com is the actual spoof, but it may be part of the puzzle too...

And if you’ve never properly experienced the concept of shame and humiliation, there are few better ways than by explaining to random pedestrians that you’re waiting around for a Microsoft computer program to call a pay phone in order to unlock a twenty second audio file on the internet that might possibly somehow relate to a video game plot.

Genius. :brickwall:
