iTunes and XP

Does anyone know why imported songs are not carried over when you switch accounts in Windows XP?

I've used iTunes for a while now and have loads of songs. I loaded iTune sup in my sisters account and there's nothing there.

Surely i don't have to import them all over again so she can listen??

iTunes stores the database containing your music library in the MyDocuments/MyMusic/iTunes folder. This is different for each user and the location cannot be changed. This is actually desirable since the database contains all the personal ratings and last date played type of stuff.

The music files themselves, by default, use the same folder but you can change the location using the advanced preferences.

All you need to do is change the preferences for iTunes on your sister's account so that the music file location is the same as on your account. Then drag all the music files over into her library in iTunes. This won't duplicate the files, but it will update her personal iTunes database, and her ratings/last played info won't affect the values in your database.

Hope this is clear. (I have done this, but make a back up of your music files first, just in case.)
