Is there any re-release planned of Scream with an anamorphic picture, English soundtrack and removeable subs!

...ahh... to be German and live in Germany...

http://discshop.com/dvdstation/product_body.asp?pf%5Fid=30073

...or French and live in France...

http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/fiche.php3?id=3708

...or Italian and live in Italy...

http://www.dvd.it/index.cgi?sid=198779563&lang=en&prep=list&v=DVD&page=dett&arti=17115

...or Spanish and live in Spain...

http://www.veo-veo.com/media/detalle.asp?d=4123&e=1

(...all feature anamorphic transfers ... and the French even have a dts soundtrack!...)

And difficult, if nigh on impossible to remove French subtitles. :(

...well, yes... the site does tell you "Sous-titres imposés sur la VO" (it is a French DVD for the French market, after all)...

...but that was not the point of my post - remember: the original question was "Is there any re-release planned of Scream with an anamorphic picture?" ... I merely wanted to show that apparently everyone in Europe except the UK! got an anamorphic transfer...

...afaik the French disc is indeed not 'cut' (the French do not 'cut' movies, although - very occasionally - they may ban them - e.g. Baise-moi was 'banned' for a while but will now be - or already is - available on a French DVD)

. . . :o . . .

I knew that Hendrik. Just wanted to point out to those that may have seen the links and ordered without knowing about the fixed subtitles.

Shame no-one can come up with the Directors Cut, anamorphic, DTS, choice of subtitles, and at a reasonable price.

I've just noticed that this is getting a new SE in R4 land on March 12th. Found here (http://www.dvddebate.com/article.php?sid=3162&mode=threaded&order=0)

All the same extras as the R1 SE, with an anamorphic picture and DTS sound. The only thing I can't find out is if it's the directors cut. Anyone else know anything about it??

My Sony 735 seemed to remove them ok :)

But that's because modded Sonys have UOP disabled...

The forthcoming R4 will do the trick, and at a reasonable price too.

looks like the R4 won't be the directors cut, may still be worth hanging on tothose other versions.

I always forget that Scream 1 and 2 are non-anamorphic - I haven't watched them for a while. You'd think though, that a re-release would be unlikely since they've already been released twice. :oh-hum:

The R4 release of "Scream 2" is also anamorphic, but has no additional features whatsoever.

I'm surprised that an Unrated edition of Scream hasn't been released on R1. Wes Craven makes quite a few references to the MPAA cuts in the commentary and documentary, which must surely have generated an interest in seeing the uncut version?

It’s my recollection that Disney who own Miramax have a policy of not releasing unrated movies. Could be wrong but I remember reading that somewhere.

Yep, just have a look at their recent re-releases of The Killer and Hard Boiled - miserable, heavily edited cuts of the film that spit on each of these movies

An uncut, anamorphic version of the first Scream with DTS is what I'm waiting for. I'll wait 'til this happens, or I'll never buy it.

I have the French version of Scream. Anamorphic, DTS, Special Edition with Director's Commentary.

Is it cut?

I can remove the subtitles on my Toshiba 2109b and My Arcam FMJ27, no problem.

So so tempted to order the french and risk my player (panasonic ra-71) being able to remove the subtitles.

AFAIK the Japanese version is the only uncut edition.

I thought that, if cuts are made to a film by the MPAA, the subsequent 'trimmed' version becomes the de facto one for most international releases.

The Danish version is also uncut.

The French version is the same theatrical release cut available in the US I think.

Panasonic players generally can't remove forced subs either...

The Danish and Japanese releases are the only uncut versions on DVD, but in US, there were laserdiscs (and I think VHS) available uncut.

Anyone seen the new R4 version for preorder anywhere yet? Had a quick scan around and just saw the existing 'blot on the the DVD world' release
