When we purchased our Yamaha guitar (following the invaluable advice from here :) ) It had a pin on the end of the guitar but no pin on the neck. So off to a local music shop we went and asked them if they could put on one. Few months before they said we do loads of them and just drill a hole. Not wanting to make any mistakes myself I entrusted them with our guitar and they duly fitted it.....but got it back home and it fell out!
It appears they drilled a hole and put a screw in there which held the new pin down, so far so good.......except that the screw had created no thread because it had been drilled originally.
Iv looked for some plastic plugs like the ones you'd put in a wall but cant find any small enough for something like this.
What do you guys recommend? Im suprised at the lack of info for something like this on the net to be honest and im hoping some of you dudes and dudettes can help. :)
One possibility is to use no more nails. How have other people got around this issue?

probably the easiest way would be to stuff a matchstick (sans lighty bit) into the hole, thereby making it smaller so when you screw the screw back in it will grip...at least that's what I would do 'cos its easy and I'm a lazy so and so ;)

I would fill the hole with wood filler and try over again.

You shouldn't really need to drill a pilot hole though. The wood should be soft enough (relatively speaking) that you can screw the screw straight in - at least that's what I've found in the past. If you do drill a pilot hole, make sure to use a drill bit smaller than the screw. When you screw the screw in, it should then make it's own thread.

Cheers,
