Hmmm. I don't think the Yamaha has a 'phono' input for a magnetic cartridge, so if punisher46 has a record deck in his cranky old hi-fi, he'll be stuck.
This is just my understanding of the Yamaha specs here (http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/av/pdfs/moreinfo/rxv520_420.pdf); others may know better.
There's also the Kenwoods at Richer which are worth a look....

Yeah, I saw the Kenwoods. Has anyone got one?
Kenwood 5050.
I had it's DTS-less predecessor the 5030. I also got that from Richer for 99 quid. It was a great amp, lots of features for the price point and a solid yet flexible performer. I only sold it on as I bought a Sony 1070 when Currys had them cheap. The main differences I can see between that and the 5050 is that the 5050 has DTS and a bit more oomph, so it should be a great performer for the money.

Sweet as a peach - it has an RRP of 600, I got mine for 300:D. I think the lowest normally is about 460 now.

I own the 5050 - great peice of kit with lots of inputs - nice RDS EON tuner in their too.
the only thing I don't like is the remote, could have been designed a bit better, but only a minor gripe - I'd check it out if I were you mate :)

Ta m8. Only £160 at richersounds, (even cheaper if I can find a student, lol).

That's the one - check out this months WhatHIFI mag, I think the 5050 may be advertised as cheaper in there.
