i just saw the new trailer on newsround and i thought it was a bit short but good. what did you think?

Gozer

It was okay, too short to base an opinion yet. Some of the effects looked a little ropey, especially Watto, but I guess there still a work in progress. Natahlie Portman looked damn fine though:nuts:. Best to wait for the longer one methinks, when does that come out?

this is being discussed over on this thread (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30278) if you're interested. the download comments eem to have given way to general trailer discussion.

If the film retains the mood of the trailer then I think we could look forward to a good movie but I think we all know that trailers can be awfully deceptive - especially when they cleverly omit the main bug-bear from TPM.

I realise they're going for a darker feeling movie ala 'Empire', by using the Darth Vader breathing, but hell, I could've gone for some music.

Well, im a sci fi fan so inevitably I enjoy all the Star Wars but COME ON guys - all you who posted on that other thread I thought it was going to be something good when all I got was about 5 screen shots mixed by darth vader breathing...the only positive thing I can say about it is that Natalie Portman looks damn fine but other than that, as Gozer said, its far far too short to base an opinion on...talk about typical forum hype...

It was only a teaser trailer so it could have been worse (remember the Jurassic Park III teaser). But even the fan made teaser trailer (http://www.theforce.net/theater/trailers/episodeii/index.shtml) was better than that and quite amusing reading where all the shots came from. ;)

Jar Jar DOES make an appearance in the trailer. Look closely! In the scene with Samuel Jackson looking all puzzled, check Jar Jar come in the door behind him with Natalie Portman and her entourage.

I see that young Anakin is also fighting Jackson later on. In training? Or has he gone bad already?

Natalie Portman just shot up a few notches to #2 in my charts (just behind Zhang Ziyi):D

For those who like to find out that little bit more.

Not much of a Spoiler seeing as he was made a General in Episode 1.

i counted 22 separate shots, not including the episode II logo at the end. and as JohnMac replied, it's a teaser - it's intentionally like that and does its job magnificently. don't let it bother you. hopefully you'll prefer this friday's offering.

i was screen-grabbing the shots to send via e-mail to a few mates with no interenet access at work. still ... i'd probably have counted them sooner or later! :) anyway, that wasn't meant to be a dig. i was just putting the case that there was a little more to it than you made out and that it seemed like it was being judged both as something it's not and as something it's not trying to be. as i said before ... i hope you're a lot happier on friday! :)

Its just a shame you didnt comprehend my initial posting, I was simply making the point it was so short and the substance was so lacking I wouldnt have even called it a teaser yet most of the other forums members were practically wetting their pants applauding this 10 second teaser as amazing already judging it as better than episode 1...so rather than patronise me, patronise them.

...but surely thats what a teaser is...a brief taste...to wet the appettite!

I thought it was pretty damm good!

BTW, I know that we as Cineworld will be previewing the trailer from the 16th onwards!

Vinyl-Pants, okay well i'm sorry you felt patronised, that wasn't the intention. guess i just misunderstood, as you said. i agree with you that there is no substance to the trailer, but i don't see how a teaser (especially of this brief nature) could be expected to have any degree of substance? so i personally wouldn't label that a criticism. plus, the real teaser is out in the next week or so. this was more of an advert that anything else.

i admit i too was excited by the trailer yesterday, but again i agree with you that, however promising certain shots looked (R2 in 'future-noir' lighting), there are no grounds for judging the quality of the film so early.

IMHO, as a teaser trailer I think that it's quite impressive.

It looks as if they've deliberately selected shots to give the impression that Ep II is darker and more like ESB, but don't forget that the Ep I teaser trailer also had a moody atmosphere (the opening shot of the Gungans coming through the mist, with "Every story has a legend...") - and how accurately did that reflect the mood of the final film?

Natalie Portman looked really gorgeous, and she's perhaps the number 1 reason why I'm going to watch the movie. And, besides, it can't get any worse than The Phantom Menace. Let's hope Star Wars is on it's way back to the top again.

Is the trailer that is going to be made available on Friday throught the weblink on the DVD different to the "Breathing" one currently available?

Also, does anyone have any info regarding the release of the "full-length" trailer?

I just saw the stills. Does the Millennium Falcon make an appearance in this movie?

i think it's a pretty safe bet that it will be. there'd be no point otherwise ... and a lot of annoyed dvd-owners. whether it will be the "full length" trailer, also known as the "romance" trailer, a cut-down version of it, or something completely different is anyone's guess for the next 3 days.

this trailer will be showing in the US with harry potter from friday 16th november. as said above, there is still a chance it will turn out to be the same as the dvd-link one this friday. not sure when it'll be in UK cinemas as i don't think the "Breathing" trailer will play here until nov.16th (someone mentioned this on another thread). that said the BBFC passed the full-length/3rd/romance trailer over a week ago and list it's running time at 2 minutes 13 seconds, so there must already be at least one print of it in this country.

theforce.net ran an article almost two weeks ago from an informant claiming that the "romance" trailer would feature 90 seconds of clips showcasing the romance aspect of the movie between anakin and padme, with 30 seconds of 'action' at the end.

I saw what you saw. A few shots of people, and a video game. Just about what I expected. I see Yoda is looking meaner and younger. What annoyed me more than anything was that you have to purchase Quicktime Pro for 30 dollars in order to see a decent size teaser. LOL, not a chance guys. Not for that teaser.

theforce.net (http://cgi.theforce.net/theforce/tfn.cgi?storyID=12816) news article should clear this up :D

<b>TEASER</b> - Attached to Monsters Inc, Nov. 2 - This is a short teaser with almost no sound except for Vader breathing. We posted a full description Monday and an audio file of Steve Jobs premiering the teaser at a cast and crew screening of Monsters Inc. It was also screened elsewhere in LA. AICN's report matches the description we posted.

<b>ONLINE TEASER</b> - November 9th - We believe this teaser will be in the DVD portion of StarWars.Com. No description available yet. There's a possibility it might be with Shallow Hal, too, since it is a 20th Century Fox film. No confirmation on that yet.

<b>TRAILER A</b> - November 16th attached to Harry Potter - Darth_Zoltan posted an accurate trailer description which we highlighted. This is a 2 minute trailer that features the romance between Anakin and Padme. This is also the one that AICN seemed to think conflicted with their description. You can expect Trailer B probably around March 2002.

however, earlier today the official site did clear everything up: :)
