Subject says it all really, gonna get me some of these when I get paid so is it better to splash out for the expensive Criterions or the BFI editions???.

 :D

Generally want to stick to one region so they look better on my shelf (which is why the Crits are more appealling, they look so good)

Seven Samurai - Criterion version has a commentary.

Hidden Fortress - I've got the Criterion which is pretty good, not many extras

Yojimbo - The BFI version is the one to get. The Criterion one is slightly cropped at the sides.

Throne of Blood - I've gone for the BFI version after reading MB's review (http://www.bulletsnbabesdvds.com/article.php?sid=576).

I'm not to sure about the others but thats a bit of a starting point. :)

Well you do insist in posting all those bloody icons :D

Having owned the Criterions I'd say try and get them if it the nice packaging you're after. The BFI discs are perfectly fine though and there's no great difference (either way) so if you prefer the US discs go for them.

www.*********.com do a couple of his discs pretty cheap.

How was that then?

Thanks guys. Soz about the smilies, I've been really bored today. Is the BFI Rashomon any good (picture wise) play doesn't have that many details.

The Criterion version of "Rashomon", due out early next year, will have a full commentary by a Kurosawa historian. The BFI release has nothing.
