I'm looking for a DV camcorder mainly for just family movies/photography.

Although my maximum limit is about £700, ideally budget camcorders at £550 or so are my range.

I want one that:

Can be switched easily to use its DVIn from my PC as well as DVOut to the PC

low-lighting mode (for catching the vandals who regularly hack at my car on a Friday night :D ) - suppose a baseball bat might be just as good...

reasonably compact and easy to use, but not so bothered if it isn't 'really small'.

Any pointers to review sites, or personal recommendations, suggested suppliers are gratefully received.

I spent a while looking over the budget ranges, and ended up buying the JVC GR DVL150 for £400 at empiredirect.co.uk

Now I'd like any advice on PC firewire cards and any likely driver issues.

The Pyro budget offering look OK, but I don't really know of many other possibilities....

I recently bought an Adaptec Fireconnect 4300 from Buy.com (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/tracker.asp?pid=28&code=144160&URL=http://www.gb.buy.com/stores/product.asp?STR=21&SKU=230108814) and it works just dandy (tested it on ME and 2K). You also get a copy of Videowave 4 with it. If you use a voucher from the bargain forum it works out even cheaper.
