I would love a TIVO but can't get my hands on one, Sky+ is not an option for me. What other options are there for a HD recorder? Don't want to use my PC either- I need something my wife will accept!!!

Tivos can be got, firstly I'd go to www.tivoland.com before eBay. or look at the classifieds here & some other sites.

Failing that you have the limited functionaility of a freeview box like pace.

Wow! Didn't know about that. Thanks. Do you know where I can get information about whether the online TV listings still work or not (and how long for) and connection to cable and all that other 'newbie' stuff???

www.tivocommunity.com for all your tivo needs :) There is no answer as to how long tivo will support the UK however a statement was issued (I think) a while back to the effect that they had no plans to withdraw the service. You'll find all sorts of info about adding network cards, bigger hd's, operational "hacks" etc on the community forum. Take a look at dealdatabase.com\forum while you're surfing, talking about video extraction is banned at tivocommunity (which is probably the more helpful\better newbie site) but its all the rage on dealdatabase.

Duncan.

http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?forumid=14 is the link to the UK part of the site - the American Tivos are slightly different to ours - and they have version 2 now

Come and give us a wave :)
