Not sure if this is the right place for it. Mods please move if its not :)
Just a quick question: Are there any dvd players that do not have a pause at the layer change?

They all do, but some are much quicker than others. In my experience, Sony's players have the longest pause, you can actually count to 2, while my multi-region Malata N996 is instant, blink and you'll miss it. Sometimes you wont even notice it if it's placed at the right moment, like during a blackout or a quiet slow moment, but some are right in the midst of action and you can't help but notice it. Don't get annoyed by them though, think if you had to flip or change the disc instead, like with LDs

And there's me with a Sony  Haven't seen a 2 sec pause (yet, actually scrub that, thinking about it I have) but as said, sometimes they are quicker in certain films.
Dont even get me started on LD! I used to curse at my old machine during that 'intermission' when it would change sides! :brickwall
Thanks for the answer though :)

Some discs are authored with alittle intelligence of course - the change comes at a scene end or in a fade out.
Then of course you get the bright sparks who place it in the middle of some dialogue or music
