Went to a toy fair and picked up a "Goldeneye" N64 for £27 (fair price?). Cool game but there are a couple of problems. The instructions for the machine were missing. Does it have a built-in memory card to save my progress? Also the game instructions were missing as well so I'm a bit lost on a few things. Searched online for instructions and specs but with no luck :help:

For assistance but don't scroll too far down in the files ;)

Saves on cartridge :)

Better late than never! :)

Some games have memory on the cartridge for game saves, some do not and require a Controller Pak which plugs into the bottom of the controller. The console itself does not have any memory for game saves.

Here (http://www.elitendo.com/n64/usa_boot_save_list.html)'s a list of save locations for US games. Can't find one for EU/UK games and am not sure if they are likely to be different.

Thanx for the help guys. I just need a basic breakdown of the controls cos I've heard Pierce :D can duck behind boxes and throw stuff around etc etc. Also I find aiming quite tricky. I've got the "auto aim" activated but it doesn't help. Don't want to read too much of the guides because I always stumble on something I wish I hadn't. Much more satisfying if I can do it myself

I'm a 1.4 man myself :D Right hand on the control stick to look, and left hand on the D-Pad to move/strafe please! It's much easier to use this control method if you're used to a similar setup on current gen FPSs.

BTW Jay, the controls are listed in the Start Menu

£27!

Maybe I should sell my N64 on Ebay.

Solitare control was the best, Jerry, THE BEST. <^V> to move, stick to look, z to fire, a/b change weapon, R zooms. Haven't found a pad control scheme so comfortable since.

£27 ?!? I paid £4 for mine

EDIT: Should pay more attention, you mean the Goldeneye N64 console set, not just the game, doh. Yeah that is a reasonable price :)

Did anyone ever manage to master the 2 controller method? It was impossible!

I've heard about this, but as I've only had an N64 for about a month I've never tried it (I only have one controller as well :(). Can you explain how it works?

His is the console controller and game. Which would not have cost you 4 pounds, I'd imagine :)

I've got one for sale too (somewhere !) I'd be looking for 21inc for the console, controller and goldeneye (think it is unboxed but all works + leads).

Two controllers per player, one in each hand holding the middle "finger" :suspect: That allows you to have 2 analog sticks for movement and aiming (which is what you now have with existing pads anyway).

Bloody mental it was - could only have 2 players on multiplayer if you both did this.

Yeah I was quite pleased. Haven't seen many around. Nothing special about the console though. Should have had a big 007 on it :D . I've already got "Mario Kart 64" which I picked up in a WH Smith audit. Looks brand new. Haven't played it yet. How does it compare to the other versions?

Good game but I'd rate it 3rd behind SMK (it was the original and damn was it a classic title!) and Double Dash (obviously the better looking graphics but I'm not giving it #1 for those reasons alone ;) ) respectively in terms of all-time MK games

Did anyone ever manage to master the 2 controller method? It was impossible!

I went through most of the game on the middle setting using this method.

Right hand stick to move, right Z to shoot, left stick to look, left Z for cross-hair. It made my hands hurt because you had to rest the controllers on your leg or something for 'purchase'. Otherwise it would twist with your hand- usually your two hands would keep the controller in 'balanced' in place.
