View Full Version : Crappiest Movie Ever?
Silent Bob

Well...what's your WORSE DVD buy/rental, or just generally most hated movie?
This question springs to mind after renting two of the worse films i've seen in a long time over the past week.
Tonight i just watched 'The Hole' and thought it was pure crud, but the worse film i've seen in a long time if not ever as got to be 'Shriek if you know what i did last Friday the 13th', OK the title should have told me everything i needed to know but i needed to view this.....i managed 30mins before i had to turn it off, infact it's possibly the first film i've ever switched off before the end, so my worse film ever goes to....
SHRIEK IF YOU KNOW WHAT I DID LAST FRIDAY THE 13th (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0212235)
Pure ******, you have been warned!

Saw Dude, Where's My Car the other day. Now wish I had a time machine so I could reclaim those precious hours of my life and do something more useful with them, like stick my head up a sheep's rectum

Just thinking (not like me) Mr Bob, should it be Crappiest Movie Ever? :D
My crappiest [blockbuster] movie ever would be Die Hard 3.
I have a big list but that comes to mind.

I got a copy of Velvet Goldmine on DVD before I'd even bought a player and I was adamant I'd love it (based on the trailer and the genre alone).
Sadly, actually watching the disc was a wholly unrewarding experience, mostly because of the mesmerisingly turgid narrative and because it's generally enjoyment-free throughout. There are probably worse movies out there of course (with lower production values etc), but VG is the worst viewing experience I've yet had.
I only sat through the whole thing because the novelty of DVD quality was still fresh back then. The embarrassingly self-important tone and my total lack of interest meant I still came very close to ejecting it prematurely though (sincerely wish I had done now).
Also, I don't think a thread like this can ignore Dungeons & Dragons for too long (a movie built purely on incompetence, cash and a bit more incompetence). If there's a crappier fantasy film out there, I've not seen it.

Titanic. The only clear winner (backed up by a few thousand others though - Forrest Gump is up there too)
Thanks for reminding me about The Cell - what a piece of cack!
I would add The Thirteenth Warrior which I managed about ten minutes of before I had to eject the disk in case the armies from Planet Cornball came and took me away...
If you're strictly looking for the crappiest film around, I would have to nominate Dogma and Brazil, for the most entertaining and inventive use of the stuff... which does not mean I dislike those films: quite the opposite! (Where was Mr Hankie...?)
How could anyone call Batman and Robin bad? One day all films will be made like that.

Highlander 2 - The Quickening still ranks as one of the crappiest movies ever.
Morons From Outer Space(with Griff Rhys Jones and Mel Smith)
Toss-up between Battlefield Earth and Batman & Robin.
Not sure if everyone else noticed, but I'm sure every scene in BE is shot at any angle except level
ok maybe I'm not entitled to say it as I didn't watch all of it but I put forward Wild Wild West. Oh and for some reason I like battlefield earth ( I think 4 other ppl in the forums also liked it so I'm not alone  )
Hercules in New York or Speed 2
I thought Battlefield Earth was good also
The Island Of Dr. Moreau!!!!!
Solaris. Self-indulgent clap-trap. 3 1/2 hours of sheer purgatory.

The three dullest films I've ever seen have to be Heat, Braveheart and The English Patient; not because of the length of the films, but because they never really engaged me, and I found them pretty uninteresting. In fact, I'd probably rank Batman & Robin above them in terms of entertainment (although I'm willing to give Heat another go; maybe I found it uninvolving because I was too busy trying to group my then-girlfriend without her mates noticing what I was up to...)

2001. people slag off action films like armageddon, but at least it has some action to keep you even mildly interested. The same can't be said for 2001.

You must not get to see too many movies if you think either of these qualify for worst movie ever. Either that or you have no taste (probably the latter)
The same can't be said for 2001.
Well, that's because 2001 is not an action movie - why is it that if a flic takes place in outer space everyone expects it to be full of action? I see 2001 as more of a static piece; in fact, you watch it like you listen to a piece of abstract music. You don't ask what a Mozart symphony is all about (or why it has no action :) ) - if it could be expressed in so many words then the music would be redundant. Same for 2001 - it is a cumulative thing based on the images, music and ideas put forward.
Now to get out of pseuds' corner....

Batman and Robin..above..Braveheart..?
And I mean, I'm not the biggest fan in the world of Heat, but it's extremely well made, and to place a piece of ***** like Batman and Robin above that..

This country!
How can you lot like BE I regret the day I borrowed a copy from McMikey.
My theory is that crapness/greatness of a film is cyclic. For example Commando is the film I truely think is the crappiest ever. But because it is so crap it crosses the very crap/very great boundry to become one of the greatest films ever, thanks to the awful script, wooden acting and other elements making it the so unintentionally funny that you wonder whether it really was meant to turn out as it did.
BE stops just short of the boundry making it the crappiest ever, along with B&R.
For some reason whenever I try to explain this to my mates they either think there is something wrong with me or I'm drunk

The Rollerblade Seven
Totally crap - was set in the desert and people rollerskated about, hitting each other then action replays were played over and over and over using different angles.
Don't think there was any dialogue in the whole movie.
We turned it off after 30mins - it was sooooooooo bad.
Other crap ones that bored me were...
2000AD (Hong Kong Legends)
urrrm
Days of Thunder
Magnolia
Sixth Sense
