Sony FD1 (remember them) problem

I've had the TV for about 7 years and it's fantastic or at least it was until a couple of weeks ago. It has developed a odd fault...it turns itself off after about 10-20 mins. I had a quick squint inside but can't see anything obvious. Any techhead have some idea for me?
I really don't want to spend to much repairing an old TV .

Sounds like something is overheating and causing it to cut out.
I would have thought it would be worth getting a service engineer to take a look for a fixed cost quote?
Don't go with the cowboys in the yellow pages, one I tried practically had spurs. Contact Sony and find out who your local service centre are and give them a ring. They might be able to tell you on the phone if it's likely to be an expensive thing to fix.
