Which is the best of the 'Ring' films ?

I watched the first film this afternoon after taping it last night and was very impressed ... Ono mentioned on the General that Ring 2 isn't supposed to be as good. Is this the general consensus ? It's also on FilmFour tonight so I will soon find out for myself ... but was wondering what you guys thought.
And what about the prequel ? Has that been made/released yet ?

The second film makes the typical mistake of trying to explain too much and thus loses the simple terror of the first film in the process. It also doesn't make as much use of the video, the most frightening part of the first movie in my opinion. All in all, a disappointment but still worth seeing.

I thought Ring 2 was fine - not as good as the first, but still an entertaining film. I actually thought it deserved credit for trying to explain the events of the first film, and for developing the back-story, rather than simply regurgitating the plot of the first. But I agree that because it's less equivocal, it's not as effective as a horror movie.
The ending wasn't so good, but it does have some nice moments, and a moody atmosphere.
Haven't seen Ring 0, but I'm sure Tartan planned to release it in the near future. Malaysian sites like Sensasian and Yesaisa sell DVDs and VCDs of most of the Ring-inspired films and TV shows. Few have English subs, though…

It is true that part 2 is not quite up to its predecessor, but then the element of surprise has been somewhat lost. It is also a sequel - with 'most' not being as good as the first.

Also, it is worth noting, that many who have bashed part 2, did so without seeing part 1. A critical mistake, especially in these films! They also then go on to slate part 1 later! Silly people!

I've heard that Ring 2 isn't as good as Ring, but still decent enough. Also Ring 0 is supposed to be better than Ring 2.

I think that ring is kinda better than ring 2 but they both have there strong points. from what i have heard tho ring 0 isnt that good. But then i havent seen it os i dont want to pass too much of a judgement.

However Miike Takeshis other film Audition is superb!!! Really avant garde at the end.

If you enjoyed Ring there is no reason you shouldn't enjoy Ring 2, as it has plenty of the same eerie athmosphere that made the first film so watchable, just get it !
