Are items reserved when they're in the basket or only once you've placed the order?

Want to wait around for more items before I just order this DVD-R drive

Once you place the order, I held one in my basket yesterday as a test and they still sold out.

(ordered one today though - will test it and give it to my dad for his PC).

BigPockets
06-07-2004, 09:49
if you do that then its fine since we would wait for you to pay for the good before packing them...... sorry macca we can't add stuff because of the automated process..

Sorted out delivery to the Isle of Wight yet? I could do with one of those DVD-R/RAM disc burners for the RAM reading facility.

If it helps - Royal Mail and CityLink consider us UK mainland and don't charge extra, we also get regular deliveries from Omega, Parceline and White Arrow so they might not charge extra either.

Cheers

Does any software come with the 2.4 min dvd writers?
What's the maximum speed I could get if I order one of these?
Any faster ones going on later?

Thanks in advance

Sorry to be a pain but I have noticed that some of the +r disks say that do not work on some burners: "Not recommend for NEC 1100A / 1300A / 2500A, Lite-on & HP Drives"

I fancy these ones : DVR8020-50 BigPockets Budget
DVD+R X4 Speed Blue 50 Pack £10.99

If I ask nicely could you add these to my order and ship them with the burner for the same shipping cost providing they will work with the burner I am being sent?

dvds2000
06-07-2004, 13:21
As much as I have had a run in with Bigpockets recently regarding postage it does get tiresome reading about the delivery charges to NI. Every thread they put on here someone mentions it. The fact is courier companies charge more for delivery to NI. You should complain to Citylink or whoever delivers the order to you, if they surcharge BP's £10 say then BP are hardly likely to only charge you £5 are they :(

£9.99 - Still a great price at the end of the day.

Yeah you could of saved a whole £7 but was it worth the risk of them all being sold out. I think not.

Nothing has taken my fancy yet...

Was considering the Ram recorder for when i get a DVD ram recorded on my pc but 1x dvd-r is just a bit slow. But cant complain at the bargain price.

Well, BigPockets have certainly served up the goods and in good time too!

Got my DVD player today: Wrapped in bin liner, stuck with tape, opened up to find a tatty looking box.... then inside; a Ronin P807, looking brand new, with remote, batteries, instructions and three lots of phono cables for all the audio outputs. Loaded up and worked first time, five minutes later had found a multiregion hack and was the proud new owner of a £12 multi-region dvd player. DTS and 5.1 outputs via RCA sockets too!

Only one minor imperfection on the top of the player, a slight dent, but would not be visible when in situ and being used!

Didn't really need the player, but for £12 it would have been rude to refuse the offer.

Thanks BigPockets, got a real bargain there! I hope to get some more tomorrow!

I recieved my working return yesterday.. Opened the box and it was a Pioneer DVR-105...

Just one question.. I didnt order discs with it so went to PC World to get some. All they had was imation dvd-rw and after trying to back up data using nero I now have three new coasters. The first said it needed formatting and the other two said that there was an invalid address block..

Any idea what discs work well with the 105? Its safe to assume that these imation dont....

I have had problems with DVD-RW media on my DVR106 also (not bought from BP however). Never bought any more to test but seems strange maybe a common prob on the drives I think the media I had was memorex though.

Other than that I am more than happy with the drive over the years I have had it. works gr8 with Ritek G04 media.

I got a Mirror DVD-MIRR110, came without any cables or remote just the bare DVD player.
For some reason subtitles are switched on and without a remote I can't turn them off. :?: Any suggestions on where I can get a remote?

On the plus side it is multiregion and has 5.1.

budgie55
09-07-2004, 11:09
perhaps one of the one for all remotes? just guessing here either that or borrow someones pocketpc with some remote software installed on it.

apart from that I dunno :/

edit: can you not navigate through the disc menu to turn them off in audio options or something? presuming you can navigate using the front panel of the machine?

3com 56k Lan Modem**Soiled box** NO POWER LEAD

BP any chance you could tell me what type of power lead this needs, don't want to get out the box to find it needs some mega special adaptor you can't buy for love nor money.

Thinking of ordering as a ADSL backup :)

budgie... to be honest i haven't got a clue on the model number, but you are right they are clones. mirror/xwave and some of the early umax players were the same as these, but we haven't sold them new in over 12 months. sorry

Went for the DVD Writer, added it to basket then went to FAQ to check out delivery costs (never ordered from you before) went to the checkout page and it said "The item you was after is now out of stock" :oh-hum: :oh-hum:

How can I have it in the basket and then it be out of stock?

Sorry, but not a good impression for a first time buyer. :nono:

BigPockets
09-07-2004, 12:02
Sorry jim, it shouldn't have done that, as soon as it is in the basket it should knock it off the avialable stock, unless you and some one else added it a basket at the same time and they checkout before you.. we will be having some more writers on at about 3pm..

Got my DVD Player and SCSI card today.

The player is a Cyberhome CH-DVD 402.
Box was solid but marked, however the unit and extras inside were in near mint condition.
I've kust checked and can make MR. Will now try and check if it takes the media both ways(!) +R and -R.

A big thumbs-up to BP from me.

BTW - the courier was a bit dim. Our security guard told him in some detail where I was on site yet he ended up in a part of our site wheer there are no offices!

Hi guys

I have got a ricoh MP5125a from the other day and it read dvds fine BUT it will not accept a blank dvd+ (www.bigpockets.co.uk budget series) or one of my normal cdr/cdrw !!!

I have updated the firmware to the correct version from Ricoh (1.72)

Nero cd/dvd speed can see the blank cdr but on My Computer, clicking on the drive it says please insert a blank disk! With the blank dvd+ inserted it will not recgonise the disk at all within both nero and windows!

The red light is coming on, flashes a bit and sometimes sticks on but nothing else :cuckoo:
Help

BTW can you go back down firmwares? Shall I try 1.68 instead of 1.72?

Cheers

:help: Any ideas Big pockets?

Hi there

I bought one of the cheap 2.4x min dvd writers (Ricoh Mp5125a) the other day along with the bigpockets +r media (50) and couldn't get the drive to work at all with this media even after updating the firmware etc.

I have now sent the drive back and got hold of a Nec 2500a and used the both Nero Info Tool and VSO inspector and both are stating the blue dvd+ disks (4x) I bought are actually - disks! The media id is showing up as VDSPMSAB 01 Media type: DVD-R

Anyone else seen similar with these disks and if not have I just sent back a perfectly good DVD+R burner due to bigpockets misprinting my batch of media?

Cheers

have you tried to update the firmware on the drive, that could solve the problem, test it with the disc i have sent and let me know

Was this disc sent to my home address (scotland) or my preferred address (Woking)? If it was sent to scotland i wont be able to test the ritek disc till next week.

I've tried three different types of disc (Liteon and two different Bulkpaq) and none of them work.

The firmware has been flashed to be the latest one, but every time i try to write to disc i get a 'Power calibration error'...

The blue bigpockets +r media 4x (50) I have bought from you are showing up in both Nero Info Tool and VSO inspector as - disks! The media id is showing up as VDSPMSAB 01 Media type: DVD-R

I haven't received a mail this morning regarding this and that email account has been working fine all morning otherwise I wouldn't have pestered you in here

As I say both Nero Info Tool and VSO inspector were telling me the disks are - and not + when using the Nec 2500a writer to check.

I have searched a lot and can not find any other reason for a + disk to be reported as a - other than the disk is indeed a - disk!

Cheers again
