Ok

Ive only just set up my 1070 after it sitting idle for about a month due to *NIGHTMARE* building work :(

Anyhow, Ive got it all up and running but theres just two things bugging me ...

1. I cant work out how to change the source input via the remote i.e change from dvd to tv to video etc

I know you can change it via the knob on the reciever but IM sure theres gotta be a way via the remote.

Ive tried several times but cant work it out??!?!

Anyone got any ideas???

2. Ive plugged my tv via the white and red phonos to the amp and left the prologic setting to auto but it never seems to display prologic on the amp screen. Even when I set prologic to ON it still wont appear.
Could this be because Im only using front left and right atm?

Im sure someone out there knows what they are doing!

cheers

dom

p.s
and yes, I have tried reading the manual but cant find anything - honest :)

Did the builders drop a brick on your head :D

To change the source just push the button that say PUSH ENTER -This is the button (push up/down very lightly) that picks the source -then press the PUSH ENTER button.

Surely you could have figured that out? :D :)

The amp only auto detects the sound format from a digital source, not via analog phonos

But surely if I select prologic as on - it should be displyed on the amp??

What does it display when the tv is playing through it now?

The amp will only detect pro-logic if it is piggybacked on a DD 2-0 signal. Analogue formats HAVE to be selected manually.

ok ive got prologic sorted now - it wasnt showing cause i only have front left and right but when i changed to a dsp mode with "phantom center and rear" - the prologic sign came up :)

Now one last question -

When you switch to tuner, how do you get the different rds modes to come up - i.e song info , clock, station name??

I want to cycle through them via remote but atm I can only do it by pressing display on the reciever.

Cheers again in advance

Confirmed - can't be done via remote. They missed quite a bit out with the remote on the 1070 in my opinion, one of it's very few failings. Now what I would like to hear is that it was possible on an earlier model and they left the receiving codes in the 1070 even though they have gone from the remote - anyone confirm that?:D

They've also missed out tuning up and down from the remote - or have I missed something....

er... if its the RDS on the STRDB930 ur asking about then confirmed again :D can't be done. The only remote tuner functions (i think) on the 930 is preset +/-, preset scan, displaying the station name, and er... nothing else that comes to mind atm

Another annoying thing about the remote is you can't change the labels!

That's crazy cos if you make the front panel of the amp say DVD2 when it was Tuner you still have to press Tuner on the remote.

I was gonna email Sony over this actually cos it's so bloody stupid.

Anyone else bothered with this?

APRIA - is this the 1070 ur on about?

I'm sure I've done this on my 930, VIDEO 1 to DIGIBOX, has sony killed this from the 1070 remote?

Yeah mate, the 1070.

I couldn't believe it. Checked the user guide but no mention of re-labelling for the remote LCD.

well - im pretty ******** off bout the rds feature
imean if its not on the remote - im really likly to press the button on the reciever

ANd also another thing although this has been mentioned

sony claim the remote is a learning one - i.e it should be able to copy any ir signal right??

WRONG - cause you can only select stuff preset.

My thorn video is not on the list so im buggered for using that.

rant over

I'm glad I read this as I was also having problems with the remote
mind you I am having problems with everything else as well!

I never imagined anything could be so complicated to set up.I have photocopied the manual to A4 sheet size bound it and am working through it now I have also printed all the 1070 related topics from the forum but I feel so inadequate!

I have connected the following:

DVD,Sky box,CD player,Tape-deck,video,Turntable using all the easy options and whilst they all work individually I cannot watch DVD with the 1070 on and Video say Animal Hospital for my missus at the same time as the sound of the television channel comes through the speakers!

Without being too scathing or insulting due to my ineptitude can someone steer me in the right direction

dave, Is it just possible that you may have made an audio input connection error, e.g. video x dvd.Just a thought.

Personally, i'd start again and completely disconnect everything and then re-connect it all. :(

Correctly this time though :D

From what you've described Dave it sounds as though you have cables mixed up somewhere. Reconnect everything and try everything individually. Another tip is to ask the wife/partner to leave you alone for an hour or so to help you concentrate*

*This may be a good idea anytime :D

dave miller - Assuming you have connected it all properly. I'm not as patronising as the others. :D Make sure you aren't selecting the VCR as an audio source when you start recording. When I had my old Sony 830, you could select a video source such as DVD and select the audio source seperately - it's a feature. :p

Thanks for the advice I will start again tomorrow from scratch
although I am fairly sure the connections are correct but something is sadly wrong. The other night I was videoing The Dream Team on Sky and watching Billy Elliot on DVD and when I played back yje video Billy Elliot had been taped although with hardly any sound and white bars running across the picture!

:D

You've got the DVD player daisychained thru the video haven't you?

:D

Bapapapa thanks for pitching in I am an avid reader of these forums and consider you to be one of the most knowledgeable as well as witty contributor.

I have tried pulling all the connections and trying again. I do not have the DVD daisy-chained through the video but have the DVD
connected by an IXOS scart to AV1 on the back of my 32" Hitachi and the video connected by scart to AV2 in the TV i.e. the TV has two scart sockets. Is it possible that the TV is acting as a link between the DVD and video? There isn't a problem though until I switch on the 1070 then the video channel sound comes out of the speakers as well as the DVD.
