Anyone else notice a distinct lack of Dolby Digital trailers on releases now?
I seem to remember a time when each film would play a DD trailer, the canyon one, the train one, egypt, rain
We still seem to treated to DTS trailers and of course THX ones.
Any comments?
They used to appear on laserdiscs a lot but personally i've only seen 2 on dvd the canyon one and the the helicopter one (the one i see most often). They even use the helicopter one at our cinema. I liked the steamtrain one the best, that sounded great when I only had Dolby Surround. Can't imagine what it would sound like with DD5.1...wow!!

I saw the train one for the first time last night when I went to see "Jeepers Creepers" (excellent movie btw) -- unfortunately their shoddy sound system and me sitting right up against the left hand wall meant it didn't sound that impressive.
Yep, R1 and R2 DVDs rarely carry DD Trailers and never have.
The R3 DVDs do almost always though.
I think columbia tristar are the only ones who use them now. Although there wasn't one on the Final Fantasy disc, that i remember.:(

The Shiri: SE DVD (R0) as a gallery of the DD demos!!
yup, that Shiri disc is great for checking out the DD Trailers - although I noticed the other day that the included DTS trailer has a DD5.1 soundtrack (not DTS!!)..
also, most R4 discs seem to have the DD trailers (in my experience anyway).

Isn't the little DTS: The Digital Experience demo thing at the start of Shaolin Soccer in fact ProLogic? Most bizarre!

Despite problems with the lack of seemless branching on the Region 2 version of STARGATE - Directors Cut (new material has been added but left in it's raw state, worse than VHS) it not only has both DD & DTS sound tracks but has a DD trailer (sandstorm) & DTS trailer.
Incidentally, the problems with this disc do not seem to have become common knowledge. I searched many forums for help without a trace until I e-mailed Home Cinema Choice. Several other Stargate Fans have now confirmed that MOMENTUM PICTURES has failed to produce the goods:rolleyes:
