I have been following the launch of the UK's first dance-only radio station with great anticipation and today I listened for the first time. PureDance play nothing but dance music and have a growing number of guest DJ's on their books.

Check out www.puredance.co.uk for live streams or listen on Sky Digital channel 938.

I'm no way affiliated with the station but I am hooked...

Phew, for a minute there I though this was going to be yet another crappy magazine created label to stick on yet another so called genre of dance music.

I dunno, I remember the days when all there was, was House music and that was it. No handbag, happy hardcore, breakbeat, Garage (not to be confused with UK garage), trance, hard house, gabba, jungle, drum and bass, grime, techno, tribal.

Have I missed any?

'Dance' music these days is baaaad. I've listened to a few albums recently and turned them off as they are crap compared to the stuff from around 95-97 which was banging in comparison.

The worst thing about it all is that some of the youngsters at my work class Scooter as House music. :gag:

The trouble is these days is it's trance that's seemingly the most popular genre. I hate trance! It's rubbish. It's so badly produced, with those horrible synth stabs.

Not all dance music is crap, though. I'm more a casual listener than a trainspotter, but anyone looking for a decent artist album should check out Freeland's Now & Them from last year. I believe he's got a Fabric mix album out too.

I'm more into well-produced material than 'banging' (as Splobber puts it!) stuff, and I can usually find something decent to listen to.
