trying to find some reviews on this bootleg version and found this over at dvd angle:
The Skinny on AoD: On Tuesday I trucked down to my local video store and low-and-behold Army of Darkness: The Director's Cut: Official Bootleg Edition was sitting on the new release shelf. Since Anchor Bay has yet to comment on my multiple inquiries I decided to "waste" some money and pick it up. I knew the second I held in in my hand that this was in fact a non-limited edition re-release of last years single disc limited edition. The packaging artwork sort of alludes to this - the former limited edition artwork has been obscured by a "brown paper bag," but there is enough still visible to explain. Let me be as blunt as possible - this is the same disc. There are no additions, enhancements, or alterations (don't be fooled by the "never-before-seen" toting for the deleted scenes). The back of the package contains some words from Bruce "Don't call me Ash" Campbell hand-written. These, in fact, turns out to be the same comments from the previous releases (yes, both limited edition releases contained these very same words). To be honest, I don't know what to say at this point. Anchor Bay's silence is not helping shed any positive light on this situation. It appears, since there's only speculation to go on, that they're trying to pull the wool over our eyes and fool us into believing this is a new release. It's not - and I've received several outraged emails from people who've already been burned. For all of us who own either or the previously released limited edition's this is a slap in the face. However, for the thousands of people who weren't able to obtain a copy, this is a golden opportunity to rush out and pick it up before Anchor Bay does something else.

Thanks for that... It's a shame companies have no thought to loyal customers - but what I want to know is: when will there be a Region 2 release of AoD? - I know it's a silly question... but it deserves a silly answer.;)
