I know there has been hundreads of threads on this.. but the search is down, and need some help on what cabling is needed..

I want to share my broadband connection between one PC running WinXP and the other running Win98, what type of cabling do i need to use to connect the Ethernet cards to the router, patch or crossover?

These are the 2 components i'm gonna buy.. with the 2 ethernet cables should it work fine? one of the PCs already has a Ethernet card in it.

Just a normal patch cable between each machine and the router.

Crossover cables are normally only used for connecting a computer - to - computer
(i.e directly without a router/hub etc ..)

you can pick up cables pretty cheap on ebay,
also network cards are dirt cheap I just bought a new one (again off ebay) £3.50 inc p&p

xp should do most of the work once you plug them together

Yep two patch leads will work fine. You will need to run the Internet connection wizard on each pc. I have the same router and it has been fine for the last 9 months.

btw this router also has a usb connection, so you *should* be able to connect one by usb and the other by ethernet
